“Can’t wait,” I mutter.

Dimitri laughs, and I get to my feet.

“I’m going to say bye to Emily.”

I hastily make my exit to go in search of Emily before Dimitri can rope me into any more family functions. I find her perched on the edge of the hot tub with her feet in the water.

When I approach, she looks over her shoulder and frowns.

“What were you and Dimitri talking about?”

“All the ways I’ve defiled you in public.”

Emily’s face pales, and I burst out laughing at the look of horror on her face.

“You better be joking.”

I chuckle as I reach for her waist. “Of course, I’m joking. We were just talking about family stuff.”

“Did he seem suspicious of us?”

“Not yet, but if you keep looking at me like that, then they will soon enough.”

“I don’t see what the big deal is. I could do a lot worse than you.”

“Uh, thanks?”

Emily laughs. “You’re welcome.”

“Now, were you planning on adding a hot tub to our repertoire of public sex places or what?” I perch beside her on the edge of the hot tub.

“I didn’t realize you were keeping a list.”

“Purely for reference purposes.”

Emily shakes her head and smiles.

I shrug. “I want to know everything there is to know about you.”

“Aside from Jana and Zara, you know more about me than anyone else I know.”

“Well, I’m sure there’s plenty still to uncover.” I flash her a wink, which has her cheeks turning pink.

Suddenly , a rush of emotion fills me, and I can’t help but reach out and gently stroke Emily’s cheek. “Can I tell you something?”

I’m sitting so close to Emily that her arm brushes against mine.

Somehow, in the last few days, we’ve gone from barely speaking to having to have some form of physical contact at.

“Of course.”

“I like you, Emily. A lot.”

“That’s good to know.” Emily blushes so prettily.

“And I want you to know that I’m determined not to fuck this up. So, if it’s okay with you, I’d like to take things slow. Or at least slow enough that we can make sure our connection is as strong emotionally as it is physically.”

Emily is quiet for a moment as she stares straight ahead at the city skyline.
