“Scared? Don’t be. I only knowtwopeople who have ever gotten stuck in an elevator before.”

“Two?!”

I knew she didn’t like elevators, but I didn’t know she was actually scared of them.

“You’ll be fine, sunshine. I can be a good distraction too.”

The elevator dings, and my stomach flips when I see it’s empty. Stolen moments with Mia are always giving me butterflies.

I pull her into the elevator, my back against the right side. I push the Lobby button before letting go of her hand and grabbing her by the hips. My hands fit so perfectly as I pull her into me. I want her to feel how much I need her already while also kissing her neck the way she likes so she regrets making me wait.

“You look gorgeous in this dress especially because I know how gorgeous you areunderneath,” I whisper into her ear as we move down the nine floors to the lobby.

“That was good. Have you been practicing?” She reaches between us to rub my cock through my dress pants, which are tight enough to not leave too much up to the imagination.

“Careful, sunshine. We don’t want everyone to know you were feeling me up in the elevator.” She kisses me, moving with the rhythm we have perfected over our months together, her tongue tangling with mine.

“It’s that pickup line, raindrop. It got me so hot and bothered,” she says against my lips, and I can’t help but grin, laughing at not only her sassy comment but how the banter between us has only strengthened with time.

It used to be our way of distracting ourselves, distancing ourselves from the terrifying feelings the other made us feel. Now, it is the fun, flirty teasing that we always pretended it was.

The elevator dings, signaling that the doors are about to open to the lobby, so we part like two teenagers coming out from under the bleachers. Mia uses her thumb and her middle finger to make sure her lipstick isn’t smudged around her lips, and I wipe my mouth on the back of the hand, my cock coming more to life when I see the smudge of her lipstick.

Before the elevator doors open I look at her, wishing I could have her body back on mine.

She returns my gaze, before the doors open, and she asks, “What two people do you know who got stuck on the elevator?”

“The two people who are getting married tomorrow.”

Chapter 44

Mia

The rehearsal goes smoothly. I didn’t realize how easy weddings are when there are no overbearing mothers or other family members trying to make it about themselves.

Drew’s friend, Lacey, takes charge, telling Drew’s bridesmaids when it is our turn to walk down after Emmett and his groomsmen make their way.

Drew and Emmett aren’t having any of us stand up with them and the officiant, Lacey’s boyfriend Tyler, so we all just practice walking down the aisle and then standing in front of where we will sit during the ceremony until Drew gets to her spot in front of Emmett.

Theo and Silas are there manning the music in charge of playing the song we will all walk down to, “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri.

“Okay, all good!” Lacey exclaims after we finish our fourth practice, finally living up to her expectations. Lacey looks gorgeous in her lavender dress, her blonde hair a little darker for the fall season. She dotes over Drew like an older sister, and I can tell how happy she is to be part of Drew’s special day.

Eddie and I barely get a chance to talk after ourdistractingelevator ride, but my eyes always find him.

The way he looks tonight is straight out of a wet dream, and it took a hell of a lot of willpower to not push him into his hotel room when I saw him earlier tonight.

“It’s a little chilly, but Cityscape is only a five minute walk. We ready to go?” Annie asks the crowd. After some chatting, it is decided that the Lenny’s crew will be heading to Cityscape, but Mateo is meeting his girlfriend who can’t come to the wedding tomorrow night due to a work trip.

Theo and Silas have dates, so they head out, and Lacey and Tyler are staying back at the hotel because Lacey wants to make sure everything is ready for tomorrow.

“You sure you don’t want to come with us to Cityscape?” I ask Mateo. “You can bring your girlfriend.” He hasn’t even told me her name, but I am hoping he introduces us all to her soon.

“No, not tonight,” he replies.

Drew, Emmett, Luke, Annie, and Eddie have started making their way to the door, but I stay behind to ask Mateo one more time. “Are you sure? We would all love to meet her.” I can’t hide the disappointment of feeling like Mateo doesn’t want to let me in on this part of his life.

He must be able to tell because he reaches out to put a hand on my shoulder. “It’s not a you thing, Mia. It’s a me thing. I just want to make sure this thing between us is in a good spot before she meets you.”
