“I’ll show you sugar lips,” he murmured into her ear, then leaned around her and covered her mouth with his.

He didn’t linger, only left her wanting more. She tried not to think what it would be like to live this life, days of being out on the boat with him and their dog, stolen kisses, smiles exchanged. She tried not to want that.

“Ease the port side of the boat up to the dock.” He left her to put the bumpers out. “You’re doing good.”

“Oops,” she said when she hit the dock instead of easing up to it. Thank goodness for rubber bumpers.

“No harm done. Shut down the motor.” He jumped out, and Duke jumped in the lake.

“You’d think he would have had enough of swimming.”

“He’s a fish. He’ll never get enough.” He tied off the boat, then held out his hand to help her onto the dock.

When he pulled her up, he tugged her against him and slid his hand down her back to the curve of her bottom. “You up for some playtime before things get serious?”

“Thought you’d never ask.”

“Good. I need to get Duke out of the lake, then walk the perimeter.” He kissed her, and then gave her butt a little smack.

She couldn’t resist putting her hand on his tush and giving it a squeeze. “Don’t be long.”

“Ten minutes.”

“Oh, the laptop.”

“I’ll bring it in.”

Good. She had no desire to even touch it again. When she reached the bedroom, she dropped her jacket on a chair, then stripped. She grabbed panties and the flannel shirt she’d swiped from Kade, and then headed for the shower. She’d just finished washing her hair when Kade slipped in behind her.

“Mind if I join you?”

“I’ve never had shower sex.” Why had she blurted that out?

His lips lifted in a predatory grin. “Then let me show you what you’ve been missing.”

Shower sex...boy, had she been missing out. An hour later, and she was still floating on air. If Kade wasn’t placing a FaceTime call to Chase and Nick Talon, she’d go roll around in the dirt so she’d need another shower.

“What are you smiling about over there, H?”

“Um, I was—” The Talon brothers’ faces appeared on the screen, and she snapped her mouth closed.

“Kade,” one of the brothers said, nodding at him, then he looked at her. “You must be Harper. I’m Chase, and the ugly one here is my brother, Nick.”

“She’s got eyes, bro, and can clearly see who’s the ugly one, and it ain’t me.” Nick winked.

Harper liked them already. She waved. “Nice to meet you, Chase and Nick.” They were both good-looking guys, and she tried to find similarities between them. There weren’t any that she could see. They even had different-colored eyes, one had brown and one had blue. She never would have guessed they were brothers, and she wondered if there was a story there.

“Wish it was under better circumstances,” Nick said. “Let’s get to it. I’ve identified our black hat.”

Next to her, Kade tensed. “Name?”

“Rex Sorenson. Works in IT for a bank. He’s good, but I’m better.”

She didn’t hear any boasting in the way Nick said that, only a statement of fact. “Do you know what he looks like?” Was he one of the men she saw at the warehouse that night or the man who’d hurt her?

The screen changed from a view of the brothers to that of a man she’d never seen before. “He’s not the man I saw at the warehouse or the man who showed up at my dad’s.”

“So we have at least three people,” Kade said.
