“Legally, you need a warrant to listen in on phone conversations, but we don’t have time to make that happen. Illegally, I can do it. It’s up to you, but it could give us a real advantage if they discuss their plans over their phones.”

“Do it.” These shitheads were playing dirty and would kill Harper given half a chance. He had no qualms about getting down in the dirt with them, not if it would give his team an advantage and keep her safe.”

“Anyone else in this room have a problem with it?”

“Not me,” Cupcake said.

“Or me.” Chase met Kade’s gaze. “These assholes lost any right to have a fair fight when they hurt Harper. Not to mention that they probably had a hand in Abby Warton’s death.”

“And how many women have they drugged like Lisa to force them to make porn movies? These people need to be stopped. My brothers wouldn’t object to you listening to those conversations, but they could lose their jobs if it ever came out we did this and they knew, so this stays between us.”

“Understand that this is only to keep tabs on them, not collect evidence since anything we learn this way wouldn’t be admissible in court,” Nick said. When they all said they understood, Nick nodded. “I’ll let you know if I learn anything more.”

Chase stood, stretched his arms above is head, then walked into the kitchen. “Got any coffee?”

“Yeah. I’ll make a pot.”

“I could use a cup, too,” Cupcake said.

Chase opened a cabinet. “Just tell me where it...ah, here it is. I’ll make it.”

Where was Harper? She and Viper should be finished by now. He walked to the window. Harper was standing with Viper at the end of the dock with a wet dog staring up at him in anticipation. Viper threw a stick, and Duke jumped into the lake.

Kade walked out to the porch. “You can come in now.”

“Anything we should know?” Tristan asked.

“Nope. The plan hasn’t changed. The only question is what time they’ll arrive.”

“We’re going to head out. Text me before you log on to Harper’s computer so I’ll know to start keeping an eye out. Skye and I will talk to our people and fill them in.”

He gave Kade a hug. “Be safe, brother.”

“Always.”

Parker hugged him. “Be safe and be badass. Keep our girl safe.”

“That’s the plan.”

He followed them down to the dock, and after they were in the rental boat, he pushed it off, then he walked to the end, stopping next to Harper. “You comfortable with the rifle?”

“She’s a pro,” Viper said. “Hit the bull’s-eye every time once she got the feel of it.”

Kade smiled at her. “That’s my girl.” But she wasn’t his girl, was she? He needed to stop saying things like that before either one of them started thinking they might have something going. “Why don’t you come inside? I have some photos for you to look at.”

“Let me get Duke out of the water.” She called him, but he ignored her.

He whistled. “Duke, out!” The dog swam to shore, then raced down the dock. When he reached them, he shook, spraying them with water.

“That dog sure loves the water,” Viper said.

“He’s a fish,” he and Harper said at the same time, then grinned at each other.

“We have a pot of coffee brewing if you want some, Viper. The guys can fill you in on the plan.” He wanted a few minutes alone with Harper. Duke gathered his legs under him to jump back in the lake, and Kade grabbed his collar. “Take Duke with you,” he told Viper.

Once Viper and Duke were walking up the steps to the cabin, he took Harper’s hand. “Come with me.”

He took her to a tree on the far side of the property that had a view of the gravel road leading to the property as well as a view of the lake, dock, and back porch. It was an easy tree to climb, and the reason he’d debated over it. She could easily get up there, but so could a bad guy. He had no intention of letting any of those men anywhere near her.
