“I thought so too, until I saw you.”
Sara blushed even as her own smile grew bigger. “Thanks.” She had taken great care with her outfit. She’d wanted something that made her feel pretty, but also something fun. In the end she’d chosen a dress with a black leotard top and a large fluffy skirt in blue and purple. She’d added a pair of black leggings dotted with colorful spots and put her hair in bouncy ringlets. She’d not bothered with much makeup—only a little mascara to bring out the blue in her eyes and a little colored gloss on her lips. Yet, viewing the appreciation in Alex’s eyes, she’d never felt prettier.
“Why don’t you put those in water and then we’ll get going?”
She quickly nodded her agreement and bounded to the kitchen, but not before giving him one last coy look over her shoulder. For some reason, she felt too shy to tell him how handsome she found him. He was out of uniform today, but every bit as attractive in a pair of blue jeans and a light blue flannel shirt. And the flowers were such a sweet gesture! She was smiling so wide she was sure her face would be sore later, but she didn’t care. It had been a long time since her heart had felt this happy.
“Ready to go?” Alex asked when she returned. When she gave him an excited nod, he took her by the hand and led her to his car. Thankfully, it looked like he’d taken the police lights off the top of his Dodge Charger.
She started to let go of his hand as they approached the car, but Alex held tightly to hers. He walked her around to the passenger side and opened the door for her. She thanked him and climbed inside, but instead of closing the door behind her, Alex leaned over, pulling the seatbelt strap out and fastening it securely around her. She’d never thought such an act could be sweet and sexy all at once, but her toes were curling by the time he closed the door and walked over to the driver’s side.
“Did your parents take you to the holiday fair?” he asked as he turned the key in the ignition.
“We went every year since the town started doing it. I think I was about seven that first year,” she mused.
“I shouldn’t be surprised,” he chuckled. “They seemed like the poster parents for a happy childhood.” Before she could reply, or even feel a twinge of sadness, he continued, “That’s good. It’s been a long time since I’ve been. I’ll let you show me around.”
“Ooh, does that mean that I get to be in charge of what we do?” she asked with a sly smile.
“Ha! Don’t push it,” he teased.
Sara had been nervous that with the change of dynamic in their relationship, thingswould feel weird between them, at least at first. But as their banter flowed easily, she found herself relaxing.
“You look adorable,” he commented as he pulled into the fairgrounds. “You should wear your hair like that more often.”
“Thanks,” Sara mumbled, blushing and looking down at her feet.
“Ahem.” Alex cleared his throat, prompting her to look at him. “The correct response is ‘thank you, Daddy.’ Now let me hear you say it.”
“Thank you, Daddy,” she parroted obediently.
“Say it like you mean it.”
She blinked in surprise, wondering if he was teasing her.
“You know what, this is my fault. I gave you a list of rules and we haven’t been together since. I think we need to set the proper tone here.”
Sara wondered what he could possibly mean by that, but it wasn’t until he’d parked the car that she found out.
“Unbuckle your seatbelt and lie over my lap, young lady.”
She yelped in surprise and protest, giving him a startled look. “B-but…”
“No arguing, little girl. Do it now, please.”
Butterflies begin to churn in her tummy. “I didn’t do anything wrong.”
“Well, you hadn’t, until now—always obey immediately. Remember?”
Sara winced. Now that he said it aloud she certainly did! She’d promised herself she was going to be such a good girl, the best little that a daddy could ask for, and here she was messing it up on her first opportunity.
“I’m sorry, Daddy.” She hung her head to keep him from seeing the tears of disappointment she felt in herself welling in her eyes. Without another word, she did as he said, unbuckled her seatbelt, and placed herself over his waiting knees.
“Now, I hadn’t been planning on actually punishing you,” he told her as he rubbed her back. “At least, not until you disobeyed me. I was just saying that as this is our first outing as daddy and little girl we need to set the tone.”
Sara’s lip quivered as sternness crept into his voice.
“Now, of course, that changes a bit. I’m going to give you a quick spanking with your panties down—” He paused, as if expecting further protest, but she’d learned her lesson. “And then you’ll have lines to write. Understood?”
