“Felix,” Harper says my name quietly, placing her hand on my arm.

“I can see we aren’t getting anywhere with your attack dog around. I’ll be in touch later to discuss our situation. This is a temporary blimp.”

“There’s nothing to discuss, Josh. It’s over,” Harper tells him.

Josh’s eyes narrow. “I would think long and hard about breaking up with me, Harper.”

“Are you threatening her?” I take another step closer to him, seconds away from pummeling this man into the ground.

“Oh no, I’m not threatening.” Josh smirks. “I’m just reminding Harper that I have something that she doesn’t want the world to see.” Harper gasps and I see the fear on her face. “Have fun with the athlete. Then once you’ve finished with him, we can get back to planning our future again.”

“Never,” Harper whispers quietly.

“I’ll make you love me again, Harper. Just wait and see,” he says.

Right, I’ve had enough, Harper looks terrified. “Stay the fuck away from her. If I ever find out you’ve come here again and harassed her, I’m going to make it hurt.” I seethe at the asshole as I grab him by the collar.

“Careful who you’re threatening there, boy.” Josh grins up at me.

“He’s not worth it,” Harper says.

“No, he’s not,” I agree as I let go, pushing him backward, and he falls on his ass in the street. He stands up slowly and dustshimself off before turning on his heel and walking away. That man is creepy as fuck. When I turn around, Harper is shaking as she watches Josh saunter away without a care in the world. I cup her cheeks and wipe away her tears. “You’re safe. He won’t dare come back.”

Those blue eyes blink slowly at me as if she is trying to process what just happened. “I’m not safe.”

“You are. He’s nothing but a fucking coward,” I reassure her.

She shakes her head. Her face has paled, and she has a faraway look as if her mind is somewhere else.

“Thank you. I don’t know what I would have done if you weren’t here.”

“You would have handled him just fine.” I lean forward and press a kiss to her lips. She stiffens under my fingers.Shit.“I can stay if you want?” I tell her, dropping my hands from her face.

“No, I’m fine. He’s just upset because I exposed his true nature to the world.”

“I don’t feel comfortable leaving you alone,” I tell her.

“My brother lives around the corner, I’ll give him a call. Plus, my home has the best security.”

I still don’t feel right leaving. “If you ever need me, call. Okay?” She nods. “Good. I’ll see you around, princess.” I reluctantly walk back down her stairs. When I get into the car, she is still standing there, her arms wrapped around her, she gives me a small wave before closing the door.

FELIX

“You’re home,” Issy greets me with a hug as I walk into her apartment.

“Yeah.”

“Everything okay?” she asks.

“No, I …” I’m unsure if I should say something or not. No, she needs to know to make sure that this Josh dude never comes around Harper ever again. “When Harper got home, Josh ambushed her on her top step, threatening her and saying a heap of creepy shit.”

“What did he say?” Issy gasps.

“He accused her of cheating on him with me. Then he threatened her and said he has something on her. He told her to have her fun because, in the end, she is his. The man has lost it.”

Issy looks worried. “Is she okay?”
