I shake my head as I check the steaks frying in the cast iron pan. "No problem."

"Well okay then. Can I do anything to help?"

"It's almost done."

She takes a seat at my small dining table. I can feel her eyes on me as I finish pulling together the simple dinner of steak, friedpotatoes, and green beans. I'm perplexed because I don't get the tight, itchy feeling I normally do just thinking about someone in my space. In fact, her presence alone has a calming, soothing effect on me.

I know she was getting frustrated by my terse answers earlier, but the soft smile never left her face. A smile which warms me from head to toe when I didn't even know I was chilled. Knowing our time together is limited, I want to bask in that warmth as much as possible while I can. Which is why the asinine suggestion of her staying here slipped out. But now it is out there, I am looking forward to her filling my space with that sweet peach scent of hers.

"It's ready." I announce, holding a plate with a fork out for her.

She stands from the table, taking them from me. I inhale a lungful of her before standing back so she can dish up.

"I have beer, milk, or water to drink." I quickly offer, trying to remember my manners.

My skin heats when she bestows her smile on me. "If I'm staying, I'll take a beer."

I pull two beers from the fridge, setting them on the table before going back to the stove to dish myself up. When I join her at the table, she is already enthusiastically tucking into her food. My dick, already at attention just from being around her, twitches at her blissful moans.

"Wow, this is really good. I've never tasted steak like this before."

"It's elk."

Her eyes jerk up, her head tipping to the side before she shrugs. "Huh, never knew what I was missing."

My lips twitch at her easy acceptance of what some would consider exotic meat. She just keeps surprising me. We eat in a companionable silence that is surprisingly pleasant. When wefinish, I put our dishes in the dishwasher and the little bit of leftovers in the fridge.

Glancing at the clock, I confirm we still have some daylight left. "Would you like to see me show you some events now? We could get a few in before dark."

She looks outside. "Sure. The light is not ideal for pictures, but as long as you're willing to do more tomorrow, that would be great."

"Sure."

I lead the way out to where I have logs arranged for practicing the various events I participate in. I decide to start with something easy. Grabbing an axe from one of many stored in the shed off of the house, I lead the way over to a three foot in diameter slice of log attached to a stand three feet off the ground. It is painted with a red circle outline with a big red dot in the middle.

Standing at a line on the ground fifteen feet from the target, I shake out my arms before I heft the axe up over my head with both hands. I take a deep breath, then let it out, launching the tool into the air. It sails across the space before sticking into the center of the target with a whack.

Kinsley's clapping has me swinging in her direction. "You did that so effortlessly. Is this one of your best events?"

My shoulders raise and fall. "They're all about the same."

"Huh, well, I can't wait to see the rest, but can I try this first?"

I'm more than a little surprised she wants to try, but there's no reason she can't. I stride to the target, pulling the axe out before bringing it back to her.

Her eyes widen when I let go of it after she has a grasp on it. "Oh, it's heavy."

She steps up to the line. I'm impressed when she attempts to mimic my throwing technique, but lets go way too late, resultingin the axe going only halfway to the target before sticking in the ground.

She looks at me with an adorable pout. "That's harder than it looks. What did I do wrong?"

"You let go too late."

She nods her head before pulling the axe from where it stuck. Walking back to the line, she tries again. This time she lets go too early. The implement sails wildly toward the target, landing just past it. Hands on her hips, she looks at me again.

"Too soon. Just before it passes your eyesight."

Nodding again, she marches to retrieve it and returns to the line.
