Page 50 of Falcon

When I do, there he stands in all of his glory, dressed in jeans and a plain white T-shirt with Ray-Ban sunglasses tucked in the neck. He is sex on a motherfucking stick and I want to eat him alive.

“Hello, Faith.” His voice runs over my skin and pulls goosebumps from within my pores and makes them stand at full attention, along with my nipples.

“Falcon. Hi,” I say in a breathy voice. “I wasn’t expecting you.”

“I should have called. I’m sorry. I just wanted to see you.” He steps forward and cups my face in his hands, placing a kiss on my lips.

It isn’t a small kiss either. It’s a big, long, “I’ve needed this all day long” type of kiss that is only stopped by the sound of Rose clearing her throat behind us.

“Oh.” He pulls away from me. “I didn’t know you had company. Shit. I’m sorry.”

“No, no. It’s okay,” I say. “Falcon, this is my best friend, Rose. Rose, this is Falcon Masen.” I motion to him and he takes a step forward with an outstretched hand.

“It’s nice to meet you, Rose.”

“You too, Falcon.” She takes his hand in a gentle shake. “Your ears must have been burning.”

“Oh really? Why is that?” he asks, turning to look at me.

I go to speak, but Rose beats me to it. “Oh, no reason really. Oh wow, look at the time,” she says, looking at the wrist she doesn’t even have a watch on it. “I should get going.”

“Don’t leave on my account,” he offers. “I barged in. I can go.”

“No, no. That’s not necessary. I have to work early in the morning anyway,” she says, gathering her purse from the table by the door. “Faith, I’ll call you tomorrow. Falcon, it was nice meeting you.” She walks up to him and places her hand on his shoulder. “And just so you know, I’m very protective of my friends…and I am one hell of a shot with a nine millimeter.”

“I will keep that in mind,” he says, and I just shake my head, not even surprised a little. I love my friend.

She walks to the door and my eyes follow her. When she is sure that only I can see her, she mouths the words, “Oh. My. God” before slipping out the front door.

“She seems…protective.” He laughs.

“That was tame. Very tame. I’ve seen her punch men twice your size before.”

“Remind me to stay on her good side.” He rests back against the wall.

“Did you have a good time? Tonight? Where did they take you?” I take his bicep in my hand. “Come sit.”

He follows me all the way to the sofa and sits beside me. I can feel his eyes on me the entire time.

“I had a great time. We went to some seafood place on the beach. It was great.” He pulls my feet up into his lap. “Your day went well?”

“I’m happy it’s Friday. That’s for sure.” I moan slightly when he begins to massage the arches of my feet.

“Rough week?”

“Something like that. Some weeks are harder than others.”

Falcon and I texted every day this week but we were only able to see each other in passing a few times since the gym nearly five days ago. It’s part of why I want to make the most of this week because I know what happens in seven days.

“Do you plan on taking it easy this weekend?” he asks, his hands now sliding up to massage my ankle.

“I plan on only leaving if I absolutely have to. I want to stay right here. All weekend.”

“What will you be doing with all of this free, weekend time?” His hand is now toying with the skin on my inner thigh.

“Well, to be honest…I was hoping you’d be involved somehow.” I shift my feet in his lap just a bit.

“And if I’m also honest, I was going to insist that you and I spend the weekend right here. Case is on night shift all week and Nora works bright and early, so she’s in bed right after dinner. I’d be awfully lonely over there all by myself.”
