marigold house

The rain is pouring down now, and I’m still sitting here waiting for Logan.

Part of me worries that something might have happened to him, but I tell myself that nothing is wrong, and that he’s completely fine. It’s raining, so he’s driving slower.

As I’m sitting there biting my nails with anxiety and nerves, I see headlights turn in my direction and jump up.

I know those headlights.

My heart is pounding in my chest. What if I tell him how I’m feeling, and he shuts me down?

What if he’s not on the same page as me?

“Get it together.” I tell myself.

Before I can give it another thought, I run out into the rain before he even gets in front of my shop.

Logan throws the truck in park, and jumps out, leaving the truck running and his door open.

“Charlie.” he calls out over the rain. “Charlie what’s wrong? Are you ok?”

I run through the rain, my clothes completely soaked now, and jump into his arms.

I wrap my arms around his neck and kiss him like my life depends on it; because it feels like it does. It physically feels like I can’t go on if I don’t have him.

Logan's hands find my thighs, and he lifts me up, wrapping my legs around his waist.

He deepens the kiss, and moans into my mouth.

After a second, he sets me down, and pushes the wet hair from my face.

“You wanna tell me what this is about?” he asks with a smile.

“I needed to see you. I..” I pause, “You call me Charlie girl.” I blurt, and his eyebrows pinch in confusion.

“Do you not like it?”

“That’s what Sam called me.” I say.

His shoulders soften and his eyes meet mine, but he doesn't say anything.

“You bought that marigold land.” I state.

He wipes a hand down his face and smiles at me.

“I had to. I was going to tell you about it.”

“Well, you didn't.”

He plants a soft kiss on my lips, and his warmth spreads over my entire body.

“Why did you buy it?” I ask him, pulling away so I can look at him.

“Because.”

“Because isn't an answer, Logan.”

He looks around, and wipes his brow. We’re both completely soaked, but neither of us care.
