Seriously, Tierney? Maybe I got my time mixed up. Maybe the party is already over, and they’re returning Sweetpea because she helped them find the loves of their lives. It was probably Justine, Olivia, and Ellie. Stunning. Smart. Sophisticated. And not anything pink in sight.

My heart breaks all over again because I’m me and could never be like them, no matter how much I pretend otherwise. But I know I need to apologize.

“I need to apologize. I know I come on strong, and this is no excuse—”

“Tierney,” Nolan says, but I hold up my hand.

“I need to say this so I can move on. When I was in seventh grade, I had to give a speech at a school function. I looked out into the audience and got the worst case of stage fright you can imagine. I needed help getting off the stage. My parents had to come and help me, and my dad had to carry me off the stage.

“And I was teased mercilessly by this guy, Adam Fletcher, whose father was a senator. He called me Stage Fright Tierney, very original. I decided that the only reason I got scared was because I stopped to think. I hated being that way, so I stopped myself from thinking and now just do everything blindly and all at once.

“It helps with my confidence. If I think too long on something, I’m going to talk myself out of it, so I’m sorry for crash-landing in your life and basically extorting your time and your... cocks while I dangled some land in front of you. I’m sorry for all that. I wasn’t thinking,” I say with a derisive laugh.

“Are you done?” Jace asks.

“I am. And you’re just returning Sweetpea. Thank you. I hope you’ll be very happy together with your brides and, you know, can you send me some pictures of your honeymoon—”

TIERNEY

––––––––

My thoughts, like mywords, come to an abrupt halt when Colter reaches for me, wraps his arm around my waist to draw me closer, while he cups my face with his other hand. Immediately, my body responds to his nearness with an encompassing heat that sets us both on fire.

I gasp, confused and in shock, but then his mouth lowers to mine, and I forget everything. Colter takes complete possession of my mouth, kissing me until I can barely breathe, let alone stand on my own two feet. He catches me, pulling me tighter, grinding his body against mine the same way he’s doing to my lips. He stamps his possession all over my mouth, sucking on my lips and my tongue.

“Waiting to do that was pure fucking torture,” he murmurs against my lips before he hands me over to Nolan.

“Sweet Tierney,” Nolan says, holding my face with both his hands while his thumbs run over my swollen lips. The agony of waiting for him to claim me is overbearing, so I reach up and kiss him, thrusting my tongue into his mouth and sighing at the intimate contact. He lets me explore his mouth and bite his lip. The instant his hands drop from my face to cup my backside, I throw my arms around his neck so I can taste even more of him.

“You taste like ambrosia,” he rasps before he leaves me for Jace. Jace doesn’t take full control of my mouth like Colter. He doesn’t let me explore like Nolan. No. He teases me relentlessly. Makes me so ravenous for his mouth, I growl in frustration. Finally, he gives in and takes control of the kiss. Leaving me breathless.

“Worth every second of waiting,” he says, as he sets me away from him. “Do you know you’ve been the bane of our existence since the moment you tried to kill us with your horse?”
