“Me?” he asked incredulously. “I’m annoying you? You’re the one who can’t have anyone within five feet of you, and can’t figure out where a fucking airport is. I’m just trying to entertain myself and drown out the sound of Mom and Dad fighting!”

“We are not fighting,” I snapped. “We’re just having a disagreement.”

“Exactly,” Thumper agreed. “It’s just a spat.”

“And like always, I’m right.”

Thumper snorted. “That’s because a man can never win an argument.”

I paused, my mouth dropping open. “Wait, why am I the woman in this scenario?”

“Did you hear the way you were bitching at me?”

“Guys! Guys!” IRIS shouted, grabbing our attention, pointing out the window. “Isn’t that the airport?”

I turned and looked out my window at the airport just across the street with a giant sign pointing to the entrance. “Fucking hell.”

AUDREY

Spencer’s gaze slid my way from the other side of the limousine. In the last hour, we’d been stuck in rush hour traffic, waiting to get to the airport. If we didn’t get to our destination soon, our plan would be shot to hell.

“This guy…”

I shot a look at Spencer, telling him to keep his mouth shut. With Tony in the back with us, we couldn’t risk saying a word about anything—even if I had taken a few extra precautions.

Tony’s head lulled to the side as the drink nearly slipped out of his hand. I gently pried it from his fingers and set it in the cupholder, then felt his pulse, satisfied when it thumped under my fingers.

Spencer quirked an eyebrow at me as I leaned back in the seat. “What the hell was that?”

“Nothing.”

“What do you mean nothing?”

I snapped my fingers in front of Tony’s face just to be sure he was really out. When he didn’t move, I leaned back and grinned. “Craig gave me some advice on how to make this easier on ourselves.”

“Craig?”

I nodded, biting my lip as I grinned. “Yep.”

“This is your friend, the one you were telling me about.”

“The very one!”

“Christ,” he muttered, rubbing his hand over his face. “I can’t believe I went along with this. You drugged him, didn’t you?”

“Well, how else was I supposed to ensure that we made it out of here?”

“I thought you said this guy could kidnap us?”

“He can, but it doesn’t hurt to make sure things run smoothly. Besides, this way we can ensure no one gets hurt.”

“No one besides the man you just drugged!” he said, pointing at Tony.

“He’s not hurt,” I argued. “He’s just unconscious. Craig made it perfectly clear that he would not be harmed in any way.”

Spencer muttered under his breath, then turned to me with a fierce look on his face. “How do you even know this guy, anyway?”
