We stay cuddled like this for a few minutes, just soaking in the silence. There is no fear, no panic. Just quiet and calm.
“Let’s go see our girl.” I whisper against her lips.
Her eyes immediately light up with pure adoration and the final wall of ice around my heart melts. That’s it.
Those two completely own me now.
After I help her out of the car, she practically races up the steps and through the front door. I guide her past my men and nod to Enzo as we pass. There is a time to catch up on business, and now is not it.
Charlotte double takes up the stairs, and I’m swiftly behind her.
“Second door on the left, baby,” I call out, watching as she quietly turns the handle and pushes it open.
She stops in the doorway as I approach behind her, wrapping my arms around her waist, pulling her close.
We both just stand there, looking at our baby girl sleeping peacefully, snuggled in blankets. As she starts to stir, my heart races.
“Mommy?” She rubs her eyes.
“Yes, baby.”
I release Charlotte and she jumps on the bed, hugging Isabella in her arms.
“Mommy is here, and I’m never leaving you ever again.”
The raw emotion in Charlotte's voice makes me choke up as I approach them.
“Daddy’s here too?” Isabella’s tired voice makes me smile as I sit on the bed next to them.
“I love you, princess,” Charlotte whispers to her, kissing her cheek.
“Can I have a daddy hug too?” she asks, and Charlotte tries to hide her sobs.
Scooting over, I take them both in my arms and hold them tight, never wanting to let go.
“I love my girls so much,” I tell them.
I look up and catch a glance of Charlotte looking at me with a smile on her face.
“This is the moment I always dreamed of,” she tells me. I swallow the lump in my throat.
“It’s not a dream anymore, sweetheart. This is our life now.”
And I’ve never felt more at peace.
Wherever my girls are is wherever my heart lies.
Chapter 103
DECLAN
“Shh,” Charlotte whispers behind me.
I’m trying to shut Isabella's door as quietly as possible. We fell asleep, all three of us cuddled up for hours, and she’s still tired, so we managed to untangle ourselves.
Before I reach the stairs, I grip her hips and tug her to me, turning her so her back presses against the wall.
She runs a finger along the dried blood on my forehead.
