“Yes, you do. At great length. Whether I ask you to or not—”

“Spill it!”

I sighed.

“He’s really good,” I said with a blush. “It’s really important to him that I’m having a good time.”

“Thank God for that. Nothing’s worse than a jackhammer who only wants ‘uh uh uh uuuuuuuuuuuh I’m done.’”

I shushed her, looking around in alarm. “Keep your voice down!”

“Sorry. I’m just living vicariously through you. So, anything… spicy happen?”

“Sage—”

“You can be vague as you want on the details but come one. Throw a girl a bone. It’s been ages since I got laid.”

“You went to Vegas for a week and a half and didn’t get laid?”

“I was working, remember? You try going out and getting a cock when you’re passing out after a fourteen-hour shoot.”

“Point taken.” I couldn’t look her in the eyes when I said it, but I had to give her something or she would never relent. “As far as spice level goes, well… let’s just say I spent a good portion of last night with my hands tied.”

She dropped her fork and clapped her hands to her face like the kid in the Home Alone movies. I was afraid she would press for more details, but her phone rang. She held up a finger.

“Just a second, that’s How Weird.”

“Sure thing.”

“Hello?” She said.

“Hi HOWARD!” I shouted. My smile soon faded when I saw the grave expression on Sage’s face.

“Oh no,” She said. “Again? When is he going to learn to stop doing that?”

“Doing what?” I said.

She rolled her eyes and put the phone on speaker. “Bug got pinched for defacing public property again.”

“That moron.” I sighed.

“Yeah, he’s at the precinct downtown right now,” Howard said, his voice hollow and tinny over the speaker on her phone. “If we can’t get his bail money together soon, they’re going to transfer him to Scary People Jail.”

“Fuck,” Sage said.

“Yeah,” Howard replied. “So I figured, you know—”

“That I just got back from a big-time gig and might have the cash. I’m sorry, Howard, but I’m tapped out. I barely broke even on the Vegas gig.”

“Damn.” Howard hemmed and hawed for a moment. “Hey, did I hear Megan in the background?”

“Yes, Howard, what’s up? I’m just broke.”

“Yeah, but I bet your limo-owning boyfriend has the bail money.”

I scowled. “No way. We’re way too early in the relationship for me to ask him for money. We’ll just have to come up with the bail ourselves. How much is it?”

“Twelve thousand dollars.”
