Carlee releases a cry of ecstasy as her inner walls clench around me when the orgasm rips through her. “Keepallyour promises. Please.”
I briefly pause, studying her, knowing she’s referring to the promise I made her.
The day you say those three words to me and mean it, I’ll keep you pregnant.
The sight of her coming undone pushes me over the edge, and I follow her, pumping and emptying deep inside her. She pulses around me, gasping as our foreheads rest together. A content sigh releases from her.
“Marry me. Tomorrow. You’re it for me, Carlee. You’re the woman I’ve been searching for my entire life, and I found you, and I don’t want to waste any more time. A future doesn’t exist without you in it. Please be my wife.”
“Really?” She smiles, running her fingers through my hair.
I nod as her pretty eyes sweep over my face. “It would be my honor to be your husband.”
“Yes, yes, of course.” She giggles as I pepper kisses on her cheeks.
“Let’s fuck around and find out,” I say, grinning. “For the first time in my life, I understand why Easton and Lexi ran away. I know you’re the woman I want. I can’t imagine my life without you, bestie.”
Our lips meet in a passionate kiss, sealing our promise. We break apart as an intense wave of happiness takes over.
“I love you so much,” I whisper, my voice thick with emotion as I hold her.
“I love you.” Carlee smiles. “This is happiness, isn’t it?”
“This is love,” I say, stroking her cheek. “I’m looking at the future Mrs. Weston Calloway.”
She smirks. “Mrs. Weston Calloway. I could get used to that. How did we go from friends to this?”
“It’s been a year in the making. Hasn’t it?” I ask as she falls into my arms.
“You’re right,” she says, drawing circles on my stomach. “I got you something.”
“Really?”
She grabs her jeans and pulls out a braided bracelet. There are two of them. She grabs my wrist, the one without my watch, and ties it around. “Best friends forever. Mine matches.”
“A friendship bracelet?” I ask with a laugh. “You’re the first person to give me one of these.”
“Ever?” She’s shocked.
“Yes,” I say, admiring the different colors of the braided strings. I help her tie hers onto her wrist.
“Now, you’ll always be reminded of me.”
“Oh, babe, you live in my heart. But thank you. I love it,” I tell her as we fall back on the blanket together, holding one another.
I’m glad she’s no longer in denial. However, I’d have waited years for her. She has no idea what she’s always done to me. I kiss her forehead, and she sighs against my chest. Being this content and relaxed should be illegal.
“We should go,” Carlee says, and I realize we drifted asleep.
“You’re too comfortable,” she tells me as she puts on her clothes.
I pull my zipper up and button my jeans. Carlee folds the blanket back into the pack and attaches it to the saddle. When she walks, she stumbles a little.
We drank too much, too fast, which is probably why we fell asleep.
“I’m riding on the back of you. No way I’m letting anything happen when we have a very important wedding to attend tomorrow.”
She laughs. “Sure you can handle riding double?”
