Zar frowned. “Of course.”

Callie breathed a sigh of relief. “That’s good at least.”

Zar tipped her chin upward until he was looking her in the eye. “You didn’t answer me. Will you attend as my guest?”

A giant, alien king wanted her to be a guest at some sacred festival. Did she dare stay? Of course it pales in comparison to what she’d just done with him. Sex. What the hell had she been thinking? That one was easy; she hadn’t been thinking. Her brain had checked out the second she’d seen him sprawled out nude in the giant bed. Her lady parts had taken over at that point.

“Callie?” Zar stroked a finger along her jaw to her throat. “Are you well?”

Callie forced a stop to the X-rated video running inside her head and thought over Zar’s question. Staying with him for a few days didn’t sound so bad, but then an image of her angry father sprang to mind. He’d be pissed if Callie took an impromptu vacation. Tomorrow was Monday and she had to be back at work bright and early. “On one condition,” she answered, not giving herself a chance to talk herself out of it.

“Anything, little dove,” he murmured.

That nickname again. She’d ask him about that one later. “I get to call my father and let him know that I’ve taken a few days off work. Let me do that and I’ll stay and be your guest.”

A muscle in his jaw twitched. “You won’t tell him about my people?”

She shook her head. “I won’t. But if I don’t tell him something he’ll go to the police. You don’t want that, I’m sure.”

He inclined his head. “I’ll have Flare bring your phone first thing in the morning. Will that do?”

They both heard a noise coming from the other room and Callie pinched the bridge of her nose.. “Actually, I believe he’s already here. As is your annoying brother.”

Zar stared at the door for a few seconds, then sighed. “I hadn’t even realized we weren’t alone.” He smiled down at her. “You distract me, Callie.”

She stepped out of his arms, then took his hand in hers. The action felt right, it felt good. Damn, she was getting attached to Zar. Not cool. “Come on, I’ll call my father while you can talk to your brother. I think he was worried about you.”

Zar let her lead him from the bedroom. When they entered the living room Callie saw Flare and Kade sitting on the couch discussing something and it looked pretty intense to her. Zar cleared his throat and both men looked over at them. Kade smiled and Flare quickly stood. Callie noticed that Zar hadn’t released his hold on her hand. Kade quirked a brow at Zar. “I trust you’re feeling better?”

Zar smiled down at her. “Much,” he growled. A knock on the door drew all their attention. Zar’s gaze shot towards Kade. “Who else is here?”

Kade didn’t say anything as he stood and crossed the room. He flung the door wide and Callie watched as three extremely large men entered. They all had black wings and black hair. All were well over six foot and thickly muscled. All three stopped and stared when they saw her. Shit, that was intimidating. Callie shuffled closer to Zar and felt immensely better when he wrapped an arm around her. “Callie, please meet my brothers.”

Of course, they were his brothers. They all looked so similar in appearance. Right down to that regal air that made her want to take a swing at them. “Awesome,” she muttered.

Kade, the idiot, laughed. “Brothers, meet Zar’s ofelia.”

As if on cue, all three men frowned. One even reached for the sword at his side. Jesus, they actually carried swords. She was way the hell out of her element here. “Uh, hello,” she said, hoping no one decided to impale her.

Zar glared at Kade. “This was unnecessary, Kade.”

Kade chuckled and crossed his arms over his massive chest. “Oh, it was definitely necessary, brother.”

One of the men stepped closer and held out a hand, an easy smile quickly replaced the frown. “I’m Therius.”

Callie took it, pleased when he didn’t crush her fingers and attempt to drag her away the way Dyre had. “It’s nice to meet you, Therius. I’m Callie.”

“Callie,” he murmured as he looked her over. His gaze lingered on her breasts for a few heartbeats before landed on her face again. “You are earth-born.”

She wasn’t sure if he found that insulting or intriguing. She was tempted to say something like bite me, but Zar quickly stepped in front of her. “She is my ofelia,” he ground out. “That’s all that matters.” Callie noticed the way Zar’s body stiffened. Oops, big brother was pissed. Zar’s wings flexed and contracted. His talons slid free of their sheath. “Anyone here have a problem with that?”

Callie peeked around Zar’s body and noticed all three men staring at Zar as if he’d grown an extra set of wings. She sighed and stepped around him, coming up short when his wing got in the way. He flipped it upward to give her room, then she heard a thud behind her as the wing hit the floor directly behind her. “Yes, I’m earth-born and while Zar keeps insisting that I’m his ofelia I’m still just trying to catch up to the fact that there are actual winged aliens living in the Smokies.” And she’d just made mad passionate love to one. Okay, that’s a therapy session for another day. “Anyway, it’s been a really long, weird day. I need to call my father, then I’d actually like to get some rest. So, believe it or not, I’m really not up to meeting Zar’s entire family right now. Maybe we could continue this tomorrow, once we’ve all had a good night’s sleep.” She took a breath, then looked up at Zar. “You do sleep, right?”

Zar’s lips twitched. “Yes, Callie.”

She nodded. “Oh good.” Her gaze sought out Flare. “I’m going to need my phone.”

Flare shot a look towards Zar. “Do as she says, Flare,” Zar ordered.
