Page 46 of Zar

Zar’s dick hardened. “Yes,” he growled.

Callie pushed all of her hair to one side and presented her neck for him. “Put it on me then.”

His cock swelled at her words, nearly distracting him from his purpose. Zar set the neck band aside, then wrapped his hands around her waist and lifted her up. He sat her down on his lap sideways. They were both naked and his hard shaft prodded her bottom. “Much better,” he growled as he picked up the neck band and unfastened the clasp at the back. With Callie’s blue gaze watching his every move, Zar placed the band around her neck and fastened the hook. Garra, it fit her as if it were made for her alone. He thought for sure they would need to have it altered. It was one more sign that she belonged to him.

Her hand went to the band. “How does it look?”

“Perfect,” he growled as he dipped his head and kissed the nighsis pendant. “My sweet, beautiful, Callie. You honor me.”

She held out her hand with the arm band in it. “Now you,” she replied, as she unhooked the clasp and wrapped it around his bicep. It took her a few tense seconds to fasten it, but finally she sat back and surveyed her handywork. A smile spread across her face. “I feel like we just got engaged or something.”

He wasn’t familiar with the term. “Engaged?”

“It’s when a man and woman commit to be married. The man gives the woman a ring and it lets everyone know she’ll be a wife soon.”

“Does the woman not give the man a ring as well?”

“Yes, but that happens during the marriage ceremony. The man will also give her another ring, signifying that she’s now married.”

“She wears two rings to his one?” Callie nodded. Zar frowned. “That’s confusing.”

She laughed. “Anyway, did we just get engaged? Because I didn’t agree to that, Zar.”

His lips twitched. “No engagement. But I am very proud to say that everyone will look at your band and know you belong to me. Your body is only mine to touch, Callie.”

“For now. I belong to you for now,” she added, frustrating him with her need to keep reminding him that she had not agreed to stay.

Zar lifted her and placed her back onto the bed. There were other things to tend to before the ceremony and he couldn’t let her distract him from his task. He walked across the room and pulled open his closet door. A long red plastic bag hung on a hook inside. He took it out and unzipped it, then pulled out the long black gown. He turned and showed it to Callie. The black silk would reach her ankles and the slit up the side would show the curvy length of her legs. The spaghetti straps would allow the neck band to show. The row of diamonds along the waistline drew the eye and would show off Callie’s hourglass shape. The dress would be gorgeous because of the woman wearing it.

“Oh, wow,” Callie breathed out as she stood and walked towards him. When she was inches in front of him, her fingers reached out and touched the glittering jewels along the waist. “I know my gemstones, Zar. Those are diamonds.”

“Yes,” he replied, as he watched her.

She snatched her hand back. “I can’t wear that. It had to cost a fortune!”

Zar traced a series of freckles along her collar bone. “It was made for you, Callie. Only for you.”

She crossed her arms over her bare chest and again his cock took notice. “How is that possible?”

“I contacted our seamstress the night Flare brought you here.” He shrugged. “I was...hopeful.”

“You are such a sneak,” she muttered as she stared at the dress. “And I’m too damn weak to resist you.”

“Good, that’s progress then.” He held the dress towards her. “Try it on. We need to know if there are any alterations necessary before tonight.”

She grabbed it and mumbled something, then stomped off to the bathroom. She was frustrated, but she was also softening towards him. Tonight he would show her his world. And she would see that she belonged in it as much as she belonged by his side.

A chime sounded and Zar frowned. He crossed the room and picked up his cell phone from the bedside table and looked at the message on the screen. Queen Lyria was requesting a meeting. He nearly declined, but then he remembered Naxon’s untimely visit. If Queen Lyria was working with Naxon, Zar needed to know. He sent off a message letting her know he could be available in two hours. She agreed to the time and Zar frowned. So, she was already in the vicinity. If she’d been on her own mountain she would’ve needed a day or more to reach him. What was she up to and what, if anything, did it have to do with Naxon?

Zar wasn’t fool enough to believe that Queen Lyria’s timing was coincidental either. He happened to have found his ofelia and she happened to be earth-born. And tonight was the festival, which only took place once a year. Lyria was curious to a fault. No doubt she wanted to meet Callie. It was in Zar to keep Callie hidden while Lyria visited, but that would only fuel Lyria’s curiosity. Better to rip the bandage off. He would meet with the Queen of the Mordaines, and he would have Callie by his side while did it. Zar had nothing to hide. Nor did he fear Lyria. When it came to Callie’s safety, there was none more lethal than he.

When the door opened, Zar turned around. Callie walked out of the bathroom. Garra, she was breathtaking. Her silken blonde hair hung down around her shoulders. The black silk set off the creamy perfection of her skin. And the neck band with the nighsis pendant drew his gaze to her breasts. Mine. Somehow she would say those words.

He crossed the room and let his wings encircle her. “Such beauty,” he softly growled. “I am going to be the envy of every male Zenarian at the festival.”

Her gaze went to his arm band and she smiled. “I have a feeling there will be a few Zenarian women none too happy that a lowly earth-born caught the eye of their sexy king.”

He quirked a brow. “Sexy, huh?”
