He took her hand in his and kissed the palm. “From the first moment that I touched you I knew heaven. Only you give me that, Alyssa. I feel whole. You and Jimmy are my family, just not in the way I used to think.”

Butterflies filled her stomach at his words. “What do you mean?”

“Jimmy is a brother to me, that’s never changed. But you’re my heart, my soul. I could never walk away from that.”

She flung off her seat belt and climbed over the middle console. It was awkward and they were both laughing by the time she was straddling him. She took his face in her hands and whispered, “I’ve always been your girl, Mac.”

“Good answer, because I forgot to use a condom last night.”

She grinned. “I’m on the pill. And I’ve never had sex without a condom. Also, I’ve had a check-up recently. All clear.”

“Would it freak you out to know I started to imagine you pregnant with my baby? And I liked it,” he growled as his gaze zeroed in on her belly. “A lot.”

She sucked in a breath. Okay, that hadn’t been what she’d expected to hear. “You want babies with me?”

His lips kicked up in a sideways grin. “Babies, plural. Yeah, that works for me.”

She laughed. “I hate to splash cold water on this little dream, but we should probably be married before we take that step.”

He covered her stomach with a big, warm palm. “Your brother would definitely prefer it if we did things in order.”

“Until then, there’s this…” she leaned close and covered his mouth with hers. She flung her arms around his neck, then sank body and soul into the kiss. Mac’s hands grasped her waist, holding her firm. She pressed her lips against his, then pried at his mouth with her tongue. He opened to her and Alyssa took the advantage, slipping her tongue inside the dark recess of his mouth. Quickly, Mac took over, teasing and playing with her mouth. The match was on and he was winning. She remembered where they were and groaned. She gently pulled her mouth from Mac’s, licking his lips as she went, then stared into his silver eyes. He had that look. As if he wanted to fling her over his shoulder and carry her off. God, that was hot. Her pussy flooded with heat.

Mac cupped the back of her head, a slow grin spread across his face. “I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you, Alyssa Saint.”

She reached down and cupped the thick, hard length of him through his jeans. “Alyssa Braden has a nice ring to it, don’t you think?”

“Mrs. Alyssa Braden,” he corrected with a wink.

She laughed. Life with Mac wouldn’t always be hot kisses stolen in a dark parking lot, but for damn sure it would never be dull. Then again, true love never was.

Epilogue

Six months later…

“Come at me, I can take it,” Alyssa said, as she held her fists in front of her face.

Mac tried hard to hide a grin but failed miserably. “If Icome at you, we’ll be calling an ambulance, Alyssa.”

She rolled her eyes and placed her small hands on her hips. Her black capri leggings were driving him to distraction. Fuck, he loved those ass-huggers.

“You said you would train me to defend myself. You also said you wouldn’t go easy on me.” She got back into a fighter stance and gritted out, “So, come at me.”

Mac lunged for her, quickly taking her down to the mat. He was careful not to let her smaller body actually hit the padded floor. In fact, he more or less placed her on the mat. Then straddled her. She struggled beneath him, but he held her down and pulled her arms above her head, then secured her wrists with one hand. He grinned down at her. She glared up at him. “Crying uncle yet?”

She kicked and wiggled beneath him for a few seconds before finally settling down. And there went his boner. Damn, he never could get enough of Alyssa. Her chest rose and fell with her fast breathing and he was suddenly very interested in her pink tank top. That barely contained her beautiful breasts. If he could just get her to the bedroom, then he could taste those perfect breasts.

“I will never cry uncle,” she vowed.

Mac leaned close and kissed her briefly before saying, “Damn right. My woman is tougher than that.”

A smile filled with pride came over her face and Mac wanted to eat her up. She was so damn pretty. He thought of the phone call he’d received earlier from Jimmy. “I got news today about the case.”

Her entire body went still beneath him and her smile turned to concern. “You did?”

“The case is going to trial. According to Mason, there is a mountain of evidence against Cameron and his father. Looks like a slam-dunk.”

She closed her eyes and let out a breath. “Thank God.”
