She smirked. “It’s hilarious.”

But she rose to her feet, Logan transfixed as she dropped to her knees in front of him to help him untangle himself.

Between the two of them they managed to get cleaned up, and dispose of the condom. Then Logan wrapped a blanket around Harper and one around himself before gathering her on his lap.

“Mmmm,” she buried her head against his chest, and he breathed in the scent of her, his eyes closing as a content feeling spread through his body.

Like warm summer sun after a cold winter.

“Is this real?” She asked.

“I hope so,” he replied. “How did the recording go?”

He listened as she animatedly caught him up on all that had happened since she’d been gone.

“I’m really happy with the album.”

Logan nodded. “I’m sure it’s going to be great.”

Harper laughed. “I don’t know about that, but I’m happy with it and so is Isla. And that’s what counts.”

There was a confidence she hadn’t had before, and Logan was glad she’d found that. As much as it had hurt being apart—and not knowing if he’d ever see her again—how could he ever wish to have done things differently? He’d wanted this for her, and he would go through a thousand times the hurt for her to be this happy.

Harper sighed contentedly. “Did I tell you I have an agent now?” She laughed. “Who would have thought?”

Logan smiled indulgently. “Who wouldn’t want to take you on? You’re amazing.”

She smiled at him. “Well, my agent wants me to keep working with Isla.”

“Do you want to?”

She shook her head. “It’s not that we don’t work well together—we do—it’s just that she wants to record her own songs, and I don’t want to tour.”

“Oh.”

Harper laughed. “I’m glad we recorded the album, but I’ve realized I enjoy being behind the scenes far more than in the spotlight. I’m going to start my own label, specifically for women singers.”

As Harper explained her plan, Logan listened, enjoying seeing her so excited about her ideas. She would be a success, he just knew it.

“So I’m probably going to still be traveling a bit, but I hope not as much,” she said with a wistful sigh.

The conversation he’d had with Mason ran through his head. He wouldn’t be a coward. He refused to not tell her how he felt. The complete story. Telling her he loved her was one thing, but making promises that were to last a lifetime was another thing entirely.

“Harper, I’d like you to stay,” he said, then continued in a rush. “I missed you, and I know it’s quick. People don’t usually move in together after only knowing each other a short time like we did, but it feels right to me, and I hope it does to you, too.”

She laughed. “I don’t think it’s too soon. I spent my whole life—until we met—never feeling this way about anyone.” She lifted her head and smiled. “What am I going to do? Push that aside in case it changes? We tried that and look what happened.”

Logan grimaced. Staying apart had not been a great move. For either of them.

“So you want to stay?”

She smiled and bit her lip, looking up at him from under her lashes.

“Uh, well, all my stuff is on the back of a truck that’s arriving next week.”

Logan blinked. “Really?”

Her cheeks flushed pink. “Yup.”
