“Well, let me know if you need my help on any of it,” I offered as the elevator doors opened and we stepped out. “Thank you for your support today. I really appreciate it.” I smiled and lowered my head as I turned to head into my office.
“Not a problem. I’ll get that information to you in a few minutes. Let me know if she has any trouble, but working with Art should make things a whole lot easier for her from here on out.”
I smiled and nodded before walking into my office and sitting down behind my desk. Today was already turning out to be a crazy day, and it was barely nine o’clock in the morning.

The day flew by faster than I had expected, and I was feeling the pain of being late to the office this morning. I had missed several important phone calls, and I had Garrett breathing down my neck for the report I had told him I would have over to his secretary by noon. Needless to say, I had yet to get that done either.
I hadn’t expected to run into Eva this morning, especially at Hyde and Wilson, of all places. While I had been there to meet with the lawyer Brent had asked me to check in with, I was also there to meet with their Director of Human Resources. I hadn’t told Regina or Garrett about the meeting and knew that they would try to talk me out of going. But when I found out that Cora had filed another sexual harassment lawsuit against another lawyer at their firm, I couldn’t stay away. I needed to know what happened. There was a lot at risk with the lawsuit she had filed against me. Most importantly, I was afraid of the impact it might have on my relationship with Eva when she found out what I was being accused of.
It was almost two when my stomach started growling, making me realize that I had forgotten to eat today. Kate had checked in briefly earlier to see if I needed her to order food, but I had been distracted and shooed her away before I stopped to think about it. I glanced across the hall to Eva’s office and noticed the granola bar on her desk. From the looks of it, she hadn’t eaten yet, either.
On the computer, I opened an instant message box and typed in her name, waiting for the chat box to load. There was this sudden feeling of giddiness running through me as I watched her, waiting to see when she got the pop-up notification of a new chat message from me.
Me: Have you eaten lunch yet?
My fingers hovered over the keyboard, waiting for her response. From the corner of my eye, I saw her look over at me, but I didn’t turn to look at her. Instead, I kept my focus on my computer screen and pretended like I was busy. A smile played on my lips when I watched her turn her attention back to the computer, her hands typing. She uncrossed her legs and shifted slightly in her chair before crossing them again. I loved that her desk was open at the bottom, which allowed me to see her beautiful legs during the day when she was sitting at her computer.
Eva: I had a granola bar. You?
I thought about replying with the truth—that I desperately wanted to crawl under her desk and eat her. But I didn’t.
Me: Got too busy. Completely spaced it.
I watched as the dots appeared in the chat box as she typed her response.
Eva: You do seem a little distracted today. Sorry if I contributed to that this morning.
I tapped my fingers on the keyboard, debating what to reply with.
Me: Distracted would be an understatement.
Eva: Why? What’s happening? Can I help?
Me: I can’t seem to keep my eyes off of your sexy legs every time you uncross them.
I waited for a few seconds to see what she was going to say when I felt her eyes on me. I turned my head slightly, feeling the heat of her gaze from across the hall. I reached up andloosened my tie as the temperature in the room suddenly rose. Eva pushed her chair back and looked down before glancing at me one last time. She pulled herself back to her computer and fucking uncrossed her legs again, painfully slow this time.
Eva: I wasn’t aware that you could see under my desk. My apologies.
I felt a low chuckle rumble out of me.
Me: I should be the one to apologize for wishing that there was more to see.
This time, she didn’t turn to look at me as the dots started bouncing in the chat bubble as she typed.
Eva: What exactly would you like to see?
I didn’t waste any time responding.
Me: Your beautiful pussy.
I glanced over and watched the blush that crept up her neck to her cheeks. I was thankful that she chose to wear her hair up so I could see the way her body reacted to me. I was even more thankful that she had decided to wear a short, silky black skirt with thin black heels. She turned slightly in her chair to face me, her eyes quickly shifting to look down the hall. I had no idea what she was planning to do, but it was the middle of the day, and Kate was sitting right down the hallway at her desk.
Eva: I don’t think this solves your lunch dilemma, but here you go.
