“You came,” he says with a sly grin.
“I did.” He just doesn’t need to know that when I say I came, I also came in the shower after our little encounter.
Guilty as sin.
That little relief was my only hope for sanity in this situation. A trip to the toy store is first on the agenda for my day off. Many dildos might die in the process of trying to save our jobs.
I turn in the seat and watch as he expertly steers us onto the highway and away from Lynn’s Cove.
“So, big guy, I have to know this… are weofficiallybreaking county policy by going out together in the evening?”
“Depends on how you define fraternization. I mean, I hang out regularly with the guys in the evening.” His expression says there’s something he’s not saying.
I prompt, “But…”
His jaw tightens. “I’m not sleeping with them.”
“You’re not sleeping with me.”
His eyes drift over to me, full of heat. He says one word. “Yet.”
“Brock,” I scold and grit my teeth.
He drives in tense silence for a few minutes, weaving in and out of traffic.
“I have no clue what I’m doing,” I mutter.
“I think we’re pretty clear on the fact that we want each other.”
Rubbing my clammy palms on my jeans doesn’t help at all. “Y-yes. I think that’s safe to say. I mean, we almost set your officeon fire.”
He groans. “Tell me about it. And the shower… that was just criminal.”
“What do you want, Brock?”
He signals and changes lanes smoothly. “Avery, I’m not going to beat around the bush about this.”
His lids lower, and he turns to burn me up with his firestorm gaze. “I want you every way a man can have a woman.”
I bury my face in my hands. “You’re going to make me lose my breath again.”
“Iwantto make you lose your breath. Every single fucking way I can.”
I can’t take this. All I can do is groan and drop my head back. “Can we just go on like a normal date and get something to eat?”
“Of course. That’s where we’re going.”
My insides are shaking and heating like the sun is shining on my ovaries. “But you want more.”
“Fuck, yes.”
Gulp.
He drives, and the energy in the truck reaches thermo-nuclear.
I make a meep sound that horrifies me. I’m coming unglued. “I don’t know if I can take this. It’s making my brain fry.”
“Your brain, honey? I think it’s making your panties fry too.”
