“If you don’t feel like cooking yourself breakfast or any other meal one day, eat at the lodge. They have a wonderful buffet.”
“I’ll do that. Have fun. Maybe we’ll see each other again soon.” Willa waved as she walked onto her porch and entered her cabin.
She continued to smile thinking about the Harmons. They were a lovely couple. Donna was right about the Callahan men. They were gorgeous. She couldn’t help but wonder if Jaxonwas married. Devin certainly wasn’t.
Both men were very similar in looks, although she’d noticed Jaxon’s eyes were a lighter shade than Devin’s and appeared more silver than grey. Otherwise, they had the same hair, build, and height. They had to be close to six feet five since Devin had towered over her five feet seven by almost a foot. She’d love to slowly crawl up that hard body. No! No! No!His lips were even sexy. Cupid’s bow lips. She loved a man with sexy lips and since she was on the subject of sexy. Could his ass be any hotter? She wanted to dig her nails into it and bite it. That ass should be illegal.
“You seriously need to stop this,” she muttered to herself as she walked to the small kitchen and opened the refrigerator door to peer inside. There was plenty of food. She’d filled out a menu to have food in the cabin but since talking with the Harmons, she was anxious to see what the lodge offered.
Blowing out a breath, she pocketed her key and left the cabin to have breakfast at the lodge. Willa knew damn well she wasn’t going to get back to sleep and she could do some work once she returned. Outside, she put her sunglasses on and headed for the lodge. Smiling as she passed several people. How many people were here, she wondered. She counted twenty cabins. If there were couples in the other eighteen that was forty people including her and Rocky, which made her wonder how many rooms the lodge contained?
Rocky and Devin seemed to be getting along pretty well too. When had that happened?
Well duh, Willa. It had to have been this morning because yesterday they didn’t seem to care about getting along. Rocky had even mentioned that he thought Devin was cocky. Willa had snorted at his remark—exactly what she’d accused Devon of being when he kept flirting with her. He certainly knew how to tease too. She bet he knew how to kiss too.
Stop it!
Entering the lodge, she saw at least thirty people sitting at tables and five at the buffet getting food. Smiling at people as she passed, she made her way to the food and almost groaned when she saw it. Her stomach growled. An older woman beside her looked at her and laughed.
“My stomach was just saying the same thing.”
“I didn’t realize how hungry I was until I saw all of this. Everything looks so good.”
Reaching for a plate and utensils, she then moved along the buffet. Everything from pancakes and waffles to scrambled eggs and gravy for biscuits was laid out in front of her.
“Everything is wonderful here. For dinner, you can order from a menu or have the buffet. I recommend, oh let’s see… everything.” The woman laughed. “I’m Ethel McKinney. My husband, Grant… is over there.” She nodded toward a table where a man sat with a massive plate of food in front of him.
“Willa Foster. Nice to meet you, Ethel.”
“Enjoy your food, honey. Maybe we’ll see each other around. I plan on being at the pool this afternoon.”
“I didn’t know there was a pool. I may joinyou.”
Ethel looked at her like she’d said she was an alien. “First time here?”
“Yes. Does it show?”
Ethel chuckled. “A little. This is our third time, and I think we’re going to make it a yearly thing. I’ll see you later, Willa.” She walked to the table to join her husband.
Just about every age was here except for children. She hadn’t seen one person under eighteen. She really needed to read the brochures, she thought as she filled her plate and turned to find a seat. After taking a seat at a table, she began eating and almost groaned aloud at the first bite of her pancake. It was fluffy and delicious. Glancing around, she noticed a few women sitting together and Willa would bet money they were all single. They saw her looking their way and smiled at her. It didn’t seem like anyone was anything but friendly.
After breakfast, she walked over to a woman standing in a doorway. Willa knew by her black pants, white shirt, and nametag she worked here. Her badge readRobin.
“Hi. Could you tell me where the pool is?” she asked Robin.
“Sure. It’s on the west side of the lodge. If you go through those double doors over there, they will take you out onto the porch. The pool is right there.”
“Do I have to go through here to get there?” She really didn’t want to parade through the dining area in her swimsuit to get to the pool.
Robin smiled at her. “No, ma’am. You can getthere through the fence at the back of the lodge.”
“Great. I really didn’t want to walk through here in a swimsuit.”
“Understandable, and behind the pool is where you’ll find the tennis courts if you’re interested.”
“Great. Thank you, Robin.”
“You’re very welcome. Enjoy your stay at Bur Oak.”
