In this moment, I knew—I knew that he would never claim me as his own, but a part of me hoped that he cared enough to save me.
“Actually,” Tyler said, turning to face Henry with a steely expression, “I’m not ready for that. You can have her.”
Henry laughed at Tyler’s words, and I felt like a pawn in a world of heartless alphas.
As Tyler walked out of the dining room with his pack, I knew my heart would never fully recover from his blatant rejection. I would never forgive him; he had literally delivered me straight to hell, ensuring I couldn’t escape.
A servant pulled out a chair for me, and I sat down because I literally couldn’t stand any longer.
“Drink some tea with me, beautiful omega,” said Henry, as a second servant rushed to serve tea. All I could think about was how easily Tyler had handed me over to Henry without a second thought.
“Your mother is doing well, I hope?” Henry asked, attempting small talk as I forced myself to sip the tea. I wondered what had happened between Tyler and me—what made him hate me so much that he couldn’t even bear to claim me as his own.
“Uh, yeah, she’s good,” I replied, my voice shaky. “She has posters of you all over her house.” The thought crossed my mind that maybe he could just have my mom instead; she would be over the moon with that arrangement if she could have Henry to herself.
“Oh, does she?” he chuckled. “You are gorgeous, Carmen. Do you know that?”
His eyes appraised my body, and my cheeks flushed as I took another sip of my tea, trying to mask my discomfort.
“Thank you,” I said, still preoccupied with thoughts of Tyler. My chest ached, and I felt shaky, just like the last time he rejected me, but it wasn’t as bad.
“Would you like a massage?” he asked suddenly, catching me off guard. I shook my head, but he continued, “Perhaps I'll get one.”
He rose from his chair and extended a hand toward me, inviting me to join him. Reluctantly, I took his soft, pillow-like hand, disgusted by his touch, as we walked to the massage room.
As soon as we entered, I wasn’t prepared for Henry to drop his bathrobe. His pale body was exposed, and he smirked when I glanced at his erection.
“What the hell?” I muttered, immediately turning away.
I tried to focus on a spot on the wall as the beta female masseuse began working on him. I refused to let him see how affected I was by his presence or that I was shocked.
The longer I stood there, the angrier I became.
Henry’s groans filled the room, and I clenched my fists, wanting nothing more than to leave. Eventually, his snores echoed through the space. It was time for me to go, and I quickly made my way out.
As I left the house, I spotted Tyler and his pack waiting outside for me.
“Was it that bad?” Tyler asked, noticing my expression.
“Do you really care about that? What if he knotted me?” I yelled at Tyler, who remained expressionless.
“He doesn’t do that on the first day with omegas,” he replied. “I work with him. I know this.”
“I have nothing else to say to you, Tyler,” I said, walking past him and ignoring his car. I just wanted to go home and never see him again.
Jaxon followed me, leaving Tyler and Axel behind.
“Tyler’s an asshole,” Jaxon said gruffly, trying to comfort me. “I’m sorry, Carmen.”
“Leave me alone, Jaxon,” I whispered, tears filling my eyes. “I don’t want to see you anymore.”
He looked as if I had punched him in the gut, but he nodded slowly. “I understand,” he said quietly. “We shouldn't have left you.”
I continued walking, realizing that I had no one to rely on. I needed to get away from this place and away from Tyler.
