Elric comes to a stop next to me. “We changed vehicles two times, both under a bridge to make sure we lost anyone chasing us, torched both cars.”
“Good,” I grunt and reach for the package. “Go get rid of this one as well. I don’t want to take any chances.”
I walk into the warehouse when I hear Jocko start the car and drive off. Kicking the door shut, I head for the room to unwrap my package.
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
– LIVI –
My body is aching everywhere. I open my eyes only to find darkness. It takes me a second or two to realize fabric is covering my eyes, my face. A hood? My brain is foggy. The sound of two people mumbling distracts me until my brain kicks in and memories of what happened assault me.
A flare of panic hits. I don’t know where I am, or who is holding me captive. The fog clouding my brain clears a bit and the distant voices become clear.
“Remember to change the dressings. I’ve left you some medication, antibiotics, and painkillers. If you have any questions,” a female voice says.
A familiar voice cuts her off with, “I know where to find you. Thanks, doc.”
Retreating footsteps and then a door closes, right after I hear a lock click in place. I hold my breath and stay still, hoping they left me alone. I’ll wait a few more heartbeats and then I’ll try to move and remove the fabric covering my head, hoping they removed my restraints.
“You can sit up and remove the hood, Livi. I know you’re awake so cut the bullshit.”
Disbelief mixed with anger fills my veins. I want to flash up, rip my hood away and attack the fucker. Though, the way my body aches and hearing the lock click in place? I know it’s useless.
It’s why I shove the anger away to keep my cool as I slowly shift my body into a sitting position. A hiss rips from me when I use my arm when I pull the hood from my head. Green eyes meet mine. The fucker is wearing a smirk while he leans against the wall across from me.
“You did this,” I snap. “You had me kidnapped. Why?”
He pushes away from the wall and shrugs. “No one enters our life the way you did and comes away clean.”
“Comes away clean? What the hell kinda talk is that?” I grit and glance down to check my injuries.
“I could say the same thing. The shit you blabber about, offering full immunity for all my brothers. All lies. A story straight from a fairytale used by cops over and over to turn criminals into puppets. We don’t fall for that shit because we don’t care what happens next. We don’t care if one hole is deeper than the other or if havoc keeps rocking our boat. We live our life the way we want. Fuck what others say or do.”
I slowly clap my hands. “Nice speech. Good to know you consider yourself a pirate with the whole havoc rocking your boat and all.”
The corner of his mouth twitches. Knowing he won’t let me go after going through all the hassle of getting me here, I lie back down on the bed and get comfortable. At least this is a situation where the deal with my cousin comes in very handy.
“Comfortable?” Thorsten asks with a hint of laughter in his voice.
I close my eyes and shush the asshole.
“If you think Broken Deeds is coming to your rescue the way you said they’d offer me salvation, you’d be dead wrong.”
I keep my lips sealed. Archer will find me due to the chip inside me. I can’t wait to see Thorsten’s face when they drag him off to jail.
The annoying asshole chuckles. “Archer doesn’t have your location, Livi. I was with him when he shockingly came to the realization that your vitals were lacking. By the way your arm was injured? We guessed you lost or damaged it. Lucky me, eh?”
Hope of a quick rescue shatters inside me, but on the outside I keep my relaxed appearance.
“What? Nothing to say? We have all the time in the world now, babe.” Another chuckle. “Don’t you want to talk? I mean, you were chasing me. Kinda desperate, don’t you think? So, come on, you have me all to yourself for the unforeseeable future.”
I release a tired sigh. “I’m trying to get some sleep. My head, along with the rest of my body, is killing me. Can you fuck off and leave me the hell alone?”
“Where’s the motherfuckin’ madwoman who likes to go head-to-head with me with her sharp tongue?” he asks with a challenge in his voice.
“She’s taking a break due to an egocentric asshole who had me hit by a car, kidnapped me, and is currently holding me against my will.” My voice is steady and emotionless.
Thorsten’s phone gives a notification and he checks the screen.
