He’s staring at the black and white photograph of Atteo. Novak, our son, who’s almost four months now, is sitting on my old man’s hip. He’s been fussy and curious over the past few weeks and craning his neck to follow everything that’s going on.

Novak reaches for the photograph on the wall with his grabby hand and Thorsten chuckles. “Not something you can put in your mouth, kiddo.”

“Hey,” I softly say when I reach my two boys.

Thorsten turns and leans in to brush his lips against mine. “Hey, babe.”

Novak grabs my hair in both his tiny fists and keeps us all locked together.

I take my son and Thorsten gives him a kiss on the top of his head. “Zack and Blue are early and waiting in the kitchen.”

Gently freeing myself from Novak’s grip, I tell Thorsten, “Then I won’t keep them waiting. We’re picking Novak up tomorrow morning, right?”

With so much family surrounding us, wanting to chip in and spend time with our son, it gives us precious moments where we can spend time as a couple. We really hit full speed relationship wise and it’s nice to have the support of everyone around us.

“Sounds good. I’m gonna go over the file Archer messaged me about. Come find me when you’ve dropped him off.” He murmurs some low words to Novak and kisses his temple. “Behave, little one.”

Novak pats Thorsten’s cheek with his flat hand. He catches his tiny wrist and places a kiss on Novak’s palm.

“Be right back,” I tell my man while emotions are clogging my throat.

When I met him, I never once let my mind wander about us settling down, let alone having a kid. Hell, my life took a spin ever since I accepted the undercover job. Starting with my past and finding a new family, then Thorsten, my career change, along with a different found family.

Over a year ago I only had one best friend, who turned out to be my cousin, now there are three brotherhoods creating one big family. Life truly is filled with surprises. Good and bad while the road of living allows you to smooth out the bumps in the road.

Stepping into the kitchen, I find my uncle Zack and his wife, and old lady, Blue. Novak has such a huge family who loves him. Three different MCs are connected to him and will always have his back no matter what.

“You’re early.” I smile.

Blue only has eyes for Novak and instantly holds her hands out to him. Novak smiles and focuses his grabby hands on Blue who takes him from me.

Blue hugs him tight when Uncle Zack says, “If it was up to my old lady we’d be here this morning.”

She glares at her husband while I chuckle. “Thanks so much for letting him sleep over tonight.”

“Always,” Blue murmurs.

“Thorsten gave me an overnight bag and I’ve already put it in the car. You guys are picking him up tomorrow, right?” Zack asks.

I nod. “If you need us to pick him up early, just let me know.”

Uncle Zack snorts. “Shorter? No. Pick him up the day after tomorrow? No problem. We love watching our family’s kids, darlin’.”

He steps closer and gives me a one-arm hug. “Call when you wanna pick him up. We’re going to the zoo in the morning, so you and your old man can sleep in.”

“Thanks you guys,” I croak.

“Always,” Blue repeats.

I take my time to hug Novak and walk them out to say goodbye. Standing in the parking lot, I watch until the car is gone to go back inside. The main room is getting busy with members chatting and enjoying a beer. When I walk in the direction of Thorsten’s office, I find Macsen standing in front of Atteo’s photograph.

Coming to a stop next to him, I slowly bump his shoulder and say, “Today might be to honor him, but he’s always in our thoughts, every single day.”

Macsen swallows hard and slowly bobs his head.

“Go grab a beer, and drink one for him as well,” I tell him.

He gives me a tiny smile. “Only if you go find your old man and distract him ’cause today isn’t about work.”
