“Poach? Who said poach?” said Tad. He and his brother laughed at the same time, as if the cord in their back had been pulled. “We’re one big family. We want to make sure all PRG clients are being taken care of. We know that time is of the essence, and Cary’s been very busy as of late. We want to make sure you’re getting the full attention you need.”

Well a few days ago he had my whole dick in his mouth, so I’d say the answer was yes. Blow job aside, Cary had been nothing but diligent as an agent. I didn’t have time for these clowns.

“I’m good.” I brushed past them.

“I know this is awkward, meeting up like this.” Tad puffed out his chest. “But do you want that to jeopardize finding the right house for your family? It’s the most important purchase you’ll make, Derek.”

Chad handed over the cup of coffee. I took it from him, opened the lid and smelled the roasted beans…before proceeding to pour it out on the sidewalk. A brown puddle formed around their loafers.

“Who the fuck drinks Starbucks? Might as well drink your own piss.” I shoved the empty cup into Chad’s stunned hands and walked off.

“Those Dumb and Dipshit motherfuckers.”

Later that afternoon, after catching up on sleep, I recounted my conversation with the Morris brothers to Cary. We were visiting another house in Eden Falls. It was empty and had a similar ranch-style layout to the first house.

“Those Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dickheads.” Cary paced in the empty living room.

“I’m not going with them.”

“Thank you. I mean, it’s ultimately your choice, and you need to do what is best for you.”

“You can’t get rid of me that quickly, Perkowski.” I rubbed his shoulders to reaffirm my position and help calm him down.

“Those Mary-Kate and Ashley assholes. If they’ve approached you, how many of my other clients have they reached out to?” Cary continued to pace. “They know Hannah and I are close to beating them for the year. All their stupid bench ads aren’t doing shit to gin up enough new business for them. I’m sorry you had to be subject to such underhandedness. Hell, I’m sorry you had to suffer through a conversation with them.”

“They tried to seduce me with Starbucks.”

“Of course. Their taste buds are as dead as their souls.” Cary strummed his fingers on the fireplace mantel, his mind working through this at warp speed. His body was tight and tense, his tangerine shirt fitted enough to reveal his lean torso. If he was trying to turn me on, he was succeeding.

Cary turned back to me. “I’m not going to let it bother me. I’m the better agent. And more importantly, we are going to find you an amazing house.”

“Do you know how sexy you look when you’re angry?”

“About that.” Cary pressed his finger on the mantel, doggedly making a point. “That can’t happen again.”

Just the reference tothatgot my dick swelling. “What can’t happen again?”

“Youknowwhat.”

“We can’t look at houses anymore?” I took a dastardly step closer to him. The way he tried to fight his obvious excitement only revved my engine more. “Or we can’t be in a shower together again?”

“That one.”

“But what if I need your expertise to determine if it’s a good enough shower?” I took another step forward, closing the gap between us, the vibration of energy intensifying.

“Fine. I’ll spell it out for you. We can’t hook up or have sex of any kind in a home.” His lower lip quivered with uncertainty. And heat. “It’s a violation of the real estate agent’s hippocratic oath.”

“You took a hippocratic oath?” I shot him my best smolder, remembering how I used this look to lure the ladies in high school.

“In my heart I did.”

“Cary.” I got right up to his face, our lips an inch apart.

“Shit,” he whispered before flinging himself on me and mashing our mouths together. I pulled him to my chest, and he wrapped his legs around my waist. Our kisses and bodies were fucking hungry for each other.

“Go this way.” He pointed behind me. I scooched us backward, and he reached past my neck and drew the blinds. “This house has brand-new blinds, which are usually a huge cost for homeowners but are included–”

“Cary. Stop talking.”
