Dear Readers,
I’m back! Remember me, your friendly online reviewer? I know it’s been a while, but I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump. Don’t worry, I found the perfect book to fix it, and I’m sharing it with you, my dearest readers.
If you don’t like male/male romance novels, this one will change your mind. It was the perfect escape from reality, full of romance, heat, and hope.
Plot Overview:
Kaiser Pierce is known for three things: winning more gold medals than any American athlete, his charity for funding swimming programs in underprivileged neighborhoods, and being openly gay.
In an effort to keep the public eye on his charity and swim career, Kaiser fiercely guards his privacy. The last thing he wants is to see his dating life splashed all over the tabloids.
After sixteen years of swimming and four times competing in the Olympics, Kaiser is nearing the end of his career. He has one last chance to qualify for the Olympics. At thirty-four years old, Kaiser knows it’s a long shot to make the team.
As the pressure increases, Kaiser doesn’t have the headspace to think about dating. He spends more time training than ever before.
Many of his coaches doubt he can compete with swimmers half his age, and even his closest friends don’t believe he will earn a spot on the team.
The one man who believes in Kaiser more than anyone is his strength-and-conditioning coach, Trent Starsky. Trent has never been attracted to men before, but he finds himself falling for the fascinating Olympian. They are opposites in every way possible, but their souls are perfectly aligned. Kaiser awakens feelings Trent didn’t know were possible. As the bond of their friendship grows, Trent falls in love with everything about Kaiser. For the first time in his life, he questions the labels put on love.
When they end up sharing a hotel room in Omaha, Trent finds the perfect opportunity to confess his feelings. As they begin a whirlwind affair, they think it’s just a fling. But things turn serious pretty quickly, and they are forced to figure out what to do when love comes unexpectedly.
Pros:
•Trope: Just a fling turns into a helluva lot more
•Sexy main characters: A hot swimmer with superhero muscles and delicious tattoos plus a poetry-loving trainer with glasses equals double the charm in this male/male delight.
•Secondary Characters: Loads of interesting sidekicks in the athletes and coaches.
•Smoking hot sex: There are so many sex scenes in this book, and they are all on fire.
•LOVE is love.
Cons:
•I had to dig deep to find this one. But I am not a fan of the third-person point-of-view. I like first-person better. It’s just more personal!
To sum it up,I loved this book! It was an intense read. I became emotionally invested in the characters and cheered for Kaiser to make his comeback. Trent and Kaiser’s love scenes sizzled off the page. I also adored the sweetness of Trent falling in love with Kaiser for more than just his fame and physique. Their relationship went much deeper than just lust. It was a true inspiration.
Wouldn’t it be nice if all of us were so lucky to find someone we were deeply attracted to on the inside as well as the outside?
I promise to be back again soon with more reviews!
