“She’s fine.” Duchess laughs. “She just needs a minute. I’m sure she’s creaming her panties.”

She’s not wrong.

“Let’s go.” I grab his hand.

“Wait,” he says. I didn’t notice that one of his arms was tucked behind his back. “These are for you.” He pulls out a bouquet of roses, and my heart beats faster. “I hope they’re still your favorite."

“Jake,” I whisper, voice cracking.No. I will not cry and ruin my makeup.“I love them.”

Red roses are my favorite, next to cherry blossoms. And these are stunning.

“Damn, boy,” Duchess whistles. “You did good.”

“Thanks.” He chuckles. “But this is nothing. She deserves so much more than some flowers.”

“No.” I shake my head. “Don’t make this out to be something small. It’s big to me, okay? I love roses. I’ve never gotten flowers before. So these...” I hold them up. “Mean the world to me.”

His eyes flick between mine, and he nods. “I’m glad.”

“How about we put these in some water, and I’ll drop them by your place when we go out for supper,” Lucy offers.

“Thanks.” I hand the roses to her.

“Ready?” Jake asks.

It’s my time to tell him to wait. “Almost.” I stand up on my tiptoes the best I can in these damn heels, and grab Jake’s face. I pull him down so that I can kiss him.

My whole body comes to life, and we both sigh into the kiss like this is where we’re meant to be.

“Now, I’m ready.” I smile as I pull back and take his hand.

Doesn’t matter what he has planned for us, I’m just excited to get out and experience new things. And what's even better is that I get to do it all with him. My Alpha. Mine.
