Page 75 of Deadly Sweet

We just stepped back into the house after Walker took off. Is it odd that I miss him already? I haven't even had a one-on-one conversation with the man, yet my body, heart, and soul crave him.

This scent-match stuff is powerful. The movies and porn did not do it justice when explaining the intensity of it. The porn videos did look very convincing, though. Duchess says they’re acting, but I’m not buying it. Although I should probably test it out for myself soon.

“How about we give you a tour?” Jake offers. I look up at him with a smile.

“Okay.”

“I’m going to take this little Princess and put her down for a nap,” Leroy says.

Each of the guys give the baby a kiss on her forehead, and it makes my heart clench as I watch.

They look at her like she hung the moon. I want them to look at me like that.

Am I jealous of a baby? Not really. I just want to matter to them as much as she does.

Swallowing hard, I freeze when Leroy stops with a sleeping Athena in his arms in front of me. “I’ll be right back,” he tells me.

I just nod, unable to take my eyes off her sweet little face.

Reaching up, I brush my fingers over her chubby little cheeks.

Leroy leaves, and I’m left standing there feeling weird.

“Are you okay?” Jake asks, getting my attention.

“Yup.” I force a smile on my lips. “How about that tour?”

They take me through the house, showing me all the rooms. Leroy joins us before they show me the basement last. Down there, they have their in-home gym that takes up the back half. They also have what Caleb calls a man cave. I’m not sure why they would call it a cave as it’s a room with a pool table, foosball table, and dart board.

“I love darts!” I grin, running my fingers over the pointy part.

“You do?” Leroy asks. “Are you good? We should play sometime.”

“I think I’m pretty good. I was able to hit a man right in the eye from across the room.” My eyes light up. “Oh! Is that why they call it a bullseye?”

Leroy raises his brow, the corner of his lips twitching.Did I say something funny?

“I don’t think so. But it does work in that scenario.”

I nod. “It did.” I look at the board on the wall. “I’ve never thrown them at that, though.” I point to it. “Show me?”

“Sure.” He takes one of the darts from my hand and steps in front of the board. He takes a second, looking like he’s trying to get a good angle, and launches the dart into the air. It hits the board close to the red center. “Close.” He nods.

“That was awesome!” I grin. “Let me try.”

I do what he did, squinting my eye, lining up my target, and then let it fly. Only I do hit the red dot.

“Yay! I won, right?”

“Ahh, not quite,” he chuckles. “But if you hit the red dot enough, you could win pretty fast.”

“How many?” I ask, tilting my head to the side.

“About ten. Each one is worth fifty points. The goal is to be the first one to five hundred and one points. So, you would also need to hit something else, too, to get that one extra point. But honestly, if you were able to get ten bullseyes, I’d just give you the point,” he chuckles.

“One time, I got four in one game,” Caleb says proudly. “Beat this old man’s ass real fast.”

“Lucky shot.” Leroy rolls his eyes. “He was also cheating.”
