"I'm looking for Dani now. Sin should be with you." His face blanches. "Why isn't she with you?"

"Fuck!" I scream even though it would be smarter to remain quiet. "She was never with me! Did you seriously have her and let her go?"

"I brought her outside, and you—"

"Shut it. I don't fucking care what happened. We need to find them, and we need to find them now."

Levi gives me a silent nod, and we take off together, moving swiftly in the same direction. We're stronger as a unit, and thanks to all our years as pack brothers we know each other's strengths and weaknesses. We can save the girls yet.

We're still prowling the never-ending maze of hallways when a door flies open and a startled official steps out. How do they not know we're here? Maybe Jax worked some of his techno-magic before leaving with that sick woman in his arms. Whatever the case, I'm grateful.

Levi pats his sides. "Dammit, my gun's not here!" he growls, then slams his fist into the surprised man, sending him sprawling to the ground.

"We need to pick up the pace," I command.

"We need to find the girls and get out," Levi shoots back, fueling both my anger and determination.

Behind us the man Levi punched scrambles to his feet and starts to scream, "Help! Help!"

Fuuuuuck. It won't be long now. This place will be swarming with guards, and anyone who's still inside will be either stuck or dead.

I pump my arms hard, letting my feet fly as fast as they can carry me. And then I spot a small, hunched form with dark brown hair pressed close to the wall. She turns and looks up at me and Levi with huge blue eyes.

Sin. Oh my God, it's really Sin.

I angle toward her and grab her in my arms, slowing only slightly as I do.

"Kieran, no! Let me go!" she cries, hitting me with her fists. "Dani's still in here! We can't leave here!"

"This way!" Levi calls, leading the charge.

Sin cries hysterically in my arms, fighting me hard, but doesn't she see that I can't let her go?

"Sin, hush. It's okay. We have to go now. We'll come back for Dani. I promise you. I promise we'll come back."

And then we're at the window hurling ourselves from the building where Jax is waiting with the sick woman clutched tightly to his chest.

"Where's Dani?" he asks when the three of us emerge without our beta.

"Still inside," Levi answers tersely. It hurts him. It hurts all of us.

"We have to go. Now." Sometimes being the one in charge means making impossible decisions. Like right now.

I know Dani has to be so scared, and Sin must hate me, but I can't risk all of us right now. We will be back to get Dani—and soon.

And only then will our pack be complete.

SIN

Islept. I don't know how I managed that with so many competing thoughts vying for my attention. I guess I just ran out of energy after everything that's happened—yesterday, the week before, my life to date. It's like I haven't gotten a single break.

Part of me is angry that I slept so soundly when Dani is now suffering at the hands of the Alliance in my place. I shouldn't rest even a single moment until she's safe, and yet allowing my brain to recharge has given me a beautiful new idea.

Jax, Kieran, and Levi are all with me. My mom too. God, my mom. I can't believe she's been alive this whole time. I also can't believe what the Alliance did to her in the name of science and progress. I'm not sure she'll ever be herself again, but I'm willing to work hard to help her get as close as possible.

I'm glad that I killed the director with the eyepatch, but his death is nowhere near enough. Once we get Dani out, I will burn that complex to the ground and everyone in it. Only then will I be satisfied; only then can I focus on my future with the pack.
