She grabbed herself an omelet and some bacon. She smirked at him while he poured her a cup of orange juice.
They sat down to eat in the living room. They discussed the news that popped on after a few minutes of silence. A show of dogs popped on after, and Gretchen looked at Logan, "Would you ever want a pet?"
He looked at her, taking their plates to the sink, "I haven't had one before."
She smiled at the dogs running around wildly. "I think a dog would be nice. We had a cat when I was growing up. It wasn't that much fun."
He leaned over the counter and watched her eyes light up with the dogs.
"Well, after the baby settles in, maybe we can get a dog."
She looked at him with bright eyes, "Are you serious?"
"Of course." He smiled at her, "Besides, it would be fun to have a dog."
After Logan finished the dishes, they went outside. It was a nice and sunny day. Logan couldn't help how much they acted like a married couple. Logan trimmed some of his bushes in the backyard, and Gretchen walked around smelling the flowers. She even watered them with the hose.
They did a load of laundry after, and Gretchen folded the clothes while Logan put them away. Logan vacuumed the living room, and Gretchen dusted the tv stand.
Soon the morning slid into afternoon and then afternoon into evening. Logan found Gretchen as she sat on the back patio sipping a cup of tea. She was watching the sunset over the horizon and he watched her knowing he never wanted her to leave. He loved her so much he didn't want to lose her.
Logan knew he loved her with his whole heart, and he wanted nothing more but to be bonded with her. But, he wondered if she would want to be bonded to him after everything. Logan knew he wanted to be able to settle down and be around her without worrying. He wanted a future free of pain.
Thirty-Eight
Gretchen
Gretchen was sitting outside, taking in the morning weather as she thought over the past few days. She couldn’t help but love how they have been.
The first day they were lazing around the house. They did a few chores around the house but spent most of it relaxing.
On day two, they watched a series of movies that Gretchen had wanted to watch but never had time to. They sat down and ate popcorn and threw some at each other every once in a while. Gretchen felt like she had been at home.
Today, they were outside. Logan was mowing the lawn, and Gretchen was sitting on the porch enjoying a cup of orange juice while taking in the view of Logan shirtless. She would never tire of seeing him that way.
They hadn't left the house in three days, but she was fine with it. Here all of the outside problems just disappeared. She knew they would eventually have to deal with them, but she wanted to enjoy her little slice of heaven before everything came crashing down.
She sipped her juice and watched Logan flex. It was like a movie to her. She smirked, and he looked at her and gave her one of his million-dollar smiles.
After a few pages in the book she snagged from his small book collection, she gave up, not remembering anything from it. She set the book aside, and Logan walked onto the patio.
"You seem to be enjoying yourself."
She nodded her head, "I am, but I am getting a little hungry, though."
"I can cook something up. Or I can have something ordered in again." She thought about the other night and the Chinese that he had ordered in. Logan had made sure she got everything she wanted, including her need for chocolate.
"Maybe we order something for lunch. Fried chicken sounds good."
Logan smiled at her, "Ok we ordered lunch. I'm going to go shower first, and then I'll cook up breakfast." He gave her a quick peck on the forehead before he slipped back inside.
Gretchen couldn't help but love everything about this. She never wanted it to end.
After breakfast, Logan and Gretchen laid on the couch and popped another movie on the TV. Gretchen was lying in his arms while Logan rubbed circles over her stomach. She watched his hand, and she couldn't wait until she was further along in the pregnancy. She couldn't wait till the baby was here and to see the baby grow up.
Gretchen was surprised at the sudden knock on the door. She looked up at Logan, who didn't move. He must have expected someone.
"Come in." He paused the movie and turned his eyes towards the front door. A man and a woman walked into the living room, both smiling.
