"I think you can do it."

Kiercy looked up at him, waiting for the biting remark or sexual innuendo to follow, but all he did was look at her and nod.

"Okay, I'll give it a shot."

It took an hour for Kiercy to put together the proper spell work, but that was a lot less than what Peter thought it would take to reprogram it.

"Are you done?" he asked.

"Yeah,"

"Does it work?"

"Only one way to find out."

Peter turned on the scanner. They both held their breath until they saw a bright red dot appear.

"Got him," Peter said. "Great work. Now let's go get this son of a bitch."

PETER

Peter sat in the passenger seat, staring at the scanner as Kiercy drove.

"Take the next left," he said.

They drove past the street without her even slowing the car down.

He looked up from the scanner. "I said take the next left."

"I want to get there, but I thought traveling the wrong way down a one-way street was a bad plan," she said. "You're going to need to learn trust that I know what I'm doing sometimes."

"Trust you? Who was the one who almost got Babel-ified back there?"

"Oh, fuck you."

"I mean, I thought we had, but maybe after we take care of this psycho kung-fu wizard, we can have celebratory sex."

Kiercy took the next left.

"What makes you—"

Peter interrupted to say, "After a quarter of a mile, take a right."

"What makes you think we are ever having sex ever again?" Kiercy asked.

"You seemed like you had fun, but next time, I think it's your turn to get tied up."

He noted that she didn't object. She didn't say yes, but she hadn't instantly dismissed the suggestion.

"It looks like he's stopped moving. After this next turn, it should be about a block, and then it'll be on the left."

Peter looked up from the scanner and realized he recognized the neighborhood they were in. When Kiercy parked, he checked the scanner one more time, just to be sure. If the machine Gil had given him was working, Arthur was somewhere in the building in front of them.

They were lucky

Stardusts was a super popular coffee shop. Peter had stopped her at least every other day for coffee on his way to work. Was this Legermain's base of operations? Had he been dosed with something this whole time? Should he say anything to Kiercy? Instead, he just laughed and said, "I knew it. That place's coffee was too good to not be magic."
