Bodey raced in front of me, grabbing her. He snapped, “No, you aren’t.”

“She said only the four of you were leaving.” Jasmine lifted her chin, her bottom lip quivering as she fought Bodey’s strong grip. “So, I’m going out there with Theo and our allies to help protect everyone.”

“You’re coming with us,” Bodey emphasized, making it clear that there was no room for argument. A hint of alpha will rose to the surface. “You aren’t trained for fighting.”

Her chest heaved, but Theo came over and placed a hand on her arm. He murmured, “He’s right. You need to go with them. We’ll be fine.”

When Jasmine opened her mouth, Bodey snarled, “Get your hands off my sister, and Jasmine, Iwillalpha will you if I have to.”

Shehmphed, but there wasn’t much she could do with the threat hovering in the air. “I’m still a wolf, and we need numbers. But whatever. I’ll go with you.”

Theo dropped his arm and brushed Jasmine's cheek before turning and rushing after the others.

Jasmine’s face twisted into agony, and I couldn’t help but wonder if she and Theo might be fated mates. Just how many fated pairs had been waiting to meet?

“Let’s go.” Samuel hurried toward the front door. “We’ve already taken too much time.”

His words were like a kick in the gut, but I deserved them. If he’d been in my position, he would’ve made the decision several minutes ago.

As we left, I heard an extra pair of footsteps coming from behind. I glanced over my shoulder to see Zeke coming after us.

I didn’t slow down as I focused forward once more, but I linked to him and Bodey,You need to help Blake and his pack.

I took Sybil, so I need to make sure she gets to the car safely first. He had his phone in his hands, typing once again.

“Then get off your fucking phone and actually help.” I didn’t understand what could be so important that he had to be on that damn thing during an emergency.

He nodded guiltily, putting the phone into his pocket. “You’re right. I’m sorry.”

His agreement caught me off guard, and the mistrust within me brewed even more. “Give me your phone.”

Brows rising, he shook his head, which had Bodey growling.

“Listen here, you pompous prick—” Bodey started, but I lifted my hand and laced my words with alpha will. “Give me your phone now. I will not risk you being distracted by whatever you consider more important than protecting wolves in your territory.”

Jasmine snickered as Samuel linked,Good call. He’s up to something.

Zeke’s eyes flared as he reached into his pocket and then handed me the cell phone. I’d alpha will him to allow me to look through it later to figure out what was going on. Right now, we had to get everyone out of here.

Samuel was the first out the door, followed by Bodey. I held on to Sybil for dear life, worried if I let her go, she’d somehow slip away. With the way Fate kept kicking me in the teeth, I didn’t want to chance losing Sybil, my only hope of getting my memories restored.

As we went down the steps, I searched the yard. There were no wolves around, just a few humans driving by.

The knot in my stomach loosened. It would be too risky for Kel’s wolves to attack us with humans around, so we should be able to get away without issue.

Jasmine followed us. Though I couldn’t see her, I could feel anger through our connection. She was pissed at Bodey, but I couldn’t blame him for making her come with us, especially after what the Southwest queen had done to my own sister.

The scent of unfamiliar wolves hit my nose.

Stomach hardening, I looked toward the woods just as two wolves bounded out of the fir trees.

I faltered as the magnitude of the situation washed over me. Kel didn’t give a shit about causing a stir among humans as long as she got what she wanted. My blood turned to ice.

How much was she willing to sacrifice to make me submit?

When we were halfway to the vehicles, eight more wolves appeared behind them. All ten were sprinting, rushing to reach us before we could get to the car.

I linked to all the wolves close by.If anyone is free, we need help. Ten wolves are out front, and we’re struggling to get to our car.
