With a little wave, the two of themheaded to the front door and on out.

I set the items on the counter beforelooking at Sage. “Are you sure you’re okay to go out today? I wouldtrust any one of my brothers with my own life and I’ll be lookingto send one of my closer comrades with you.”

“I trust you, Ryder. Youwouldn’t have brought me home if you weren’t planning to protectme.” Sage busied herself with melting butter in the skillet andthen cracking eggs.

And I didn’t bother correcting herthat it was Grayson who had insisted we bring her home. I didn’twant her to feel like she was imposing on me and in reality I hadwanted the same thing, just hadn’t voiced it.

After breakfast, Sage and I retreatedto my room to get changed.

She stepped out of the bathroomwearing a pair of cutoff shorts and a cute floweryblouse.

After I finished closing the button onthe old pair of jeans I had slipped on, I tugged one of my TwistedFlames Auto t-shirts over my head. “You look really pretty. I’mglad the girls had some things for you to wear. But today, don’thesitate to buy things you still need or even want. I’m not adverseto sexy dresses.” I shot her a smirk. I had to stop flirting withher, but it was so damn easy. And really, what did it hurt since Ihad already been up front with her about all I could offer herright now. So it was only innocent flirting. Or so I kept tellingmyself. Besides, I kept to myself the fact that I would love to seeher bring home some lingerie too.

She raised her eyebrow at me beforerolling her eyes. “You are just going to encourage those two. Idon’t need fancy things, just practical things. When I get a job,I’ll be working and helping out around here until I get thingsfigured out. And I won’t be dating for a long while.”

Why did the idea of her dating send agrowl crawling up my chest that I barely managed to shove backdown? It was time to get to the garage so I could distract myselfwith the smell of oil, the sound of metal clanking against metal, and the purr of a refurbed engine. “Are you ready to head outthen?”

“Yes, sorry we had a latestart today. That won’t cause issues at work for you, willit?”

“Not at all. I get my workdone and I don’t habitually come in late just for the hell of it.Besides, you needed me last night and it’s not your fault you’redealing with some trauma.” Almost grabbing her hand, but at thelast minute I merely nodded to the door. “I’ll talk with the guysand see what job openings we have available. I know we can alwaysuse waitresses at our restaurant Twisted Eats. Let’s getgoing.”

We walked down the hallway and throughthe kitchen to the garage, where we hopped on my bike. She felt asperfect as she did last night, her thighs wrapped around my hips, her arms wound tightly around my waist, and her pussy snug upagainst my ass. My dick twitched at the touch. If I didn’t get somecontrol of my wood, the guys would be giving me shit. And it wasn’teasy to work on cars with an erection punching at your jeans. Aboutten minutes later, I pulled my bike in at the back lot to ourgarage before helping Sage off of the bike.

“The waitress job soundsgood. Let me know when I can interview for it. I’ll buy a niceoutfit today that I can wear on interviews.”

“You can buy an outfit forfuture interviews if you want, but you won’t need to interview atthe restaurant. If you want the job; it’s yours. Think on it today. And when you are sure; I’ll take you over there to meet Randy. Heruns the place.”

“Okay. Thank you. I don’twant to freeload off of you and Grayson. I want towork.”

We stepped to the back entrance, but Iput my hand on her arm. “Working will give you something to do soyou’re not only sitting around while I’m at work so that will begood. And I’ll see if we can get you mostly hours that coincidewith mine. But I’m taking care of you for right now. We didn’tbring you home with us so you could help us pay bills.”

“Maybe I can buy groceriessometimes and cook dinner for the three of us too?” She blinked upat me, her eyes optimistic. Sage was an incredibly beautifulsoul.

I’d prefer dinner for just the two ofus, but I had to shake those thoughts free. “I’ll agree to that. But only if you can actually cook.” I couldn’t resist shooting hera wink with my tease.

“I’m no world renownedchef, but I can make good tasting edible food.” Shegrinned.

“Well we mostly get takeoutand delivery so I don’t have any room to talk.” I held the dooropen for Sage to step through and then followed. Inside, I led herdown the small hallway to the office at the back of the garage so Icould check the schedule and see what jobs needed done today. Thesmall room held a metal desk – which for once wasn’t entirelycovered in paperwork – a large filing cabinet, and three foldingchairs. After scanning the clipboard, I guided her out to the mainarea where the guys had parts and equipment scattered about theconcrete and various cars in different stages of work.

When we stepped into the bay area, acouple of the guys turned at our approach, whistling and tossingout crude remarks.

But before I could flip my shit, Sageput up her hand.

“Autographs will be fromtwo to four today only. And before that time, behavior like thiswill not be tolerated or you forfeit your chance to take selfieswith me.” She tossed them a playful grin.

Fuck, Sage was amazing.

“She’s fucking awesome. ButI can tell by the scowl on your face, you probably won’t even allowus to get those autographs later.” Skip taunted from his perch onthe bumper of a red beater truck.

“I know you guys areassholes by design, but there are different circumstances at playhere. Sage was not protected by the Pyro Devils.” I clenched my jawbriefly as I tamped down my anger at the reminder of Angel’s news.“And their negligence caused her a great deal of trauma. That isthe only information you will get from me, but it’s enough tounderstand the severity of the incident. But she’s now ours andunder our protection. Which leads me to my next thing. Does anyoneknow where Gage is today? I noticed his name isn’t on the schedule.Did he have plans or anything?”

Like my mentioning him summoned hispresence, Gage sauntered into the bay, running his hands throughhis brown hair and when his green eyes landed on Sage standingbeside me, his gaze traveled up and down her body . . . twice. Thenhis lips curled into a mischievous grin. “Ryder, did you bring me atreat?”

“Actually, you’ve beendelegated to tailing duty for Angel, Misti, and me while we goshopping today. Sorry about your luck.” Once again, Sage’s quipcooled my rising temper.

“Can’t you send Boots orone of the other Prospects? How long’s this shopping spree?” Andhis discomfort decreased my irritation even further.

Sage shrugged. “I’ve never really goneshopping before so I have no idea what’s in store. How long dothose girls usually shop?”
