“Probably a dumb question, but it’s going to have kick back and try to smash my face or chestor something. My other bruises and stuff have healed and I’m goingto add new ones.”
“Nope. Your beautiful faceis going to remain unmarred. I’ll have my hands on your arms forthe first few rounds to help you adjust to the recoil, but if youstand correctly, you’ll be fine. Now rest the pointer finger ofyour dominant hand on the side of the gun and outside of thetrigger guard. Wrap the other three fingers of your dominant handaround the grip and beneath the trigger guard. Place yoursupporting hand as high as possible on the grip, and point yoursupporting hand’s thumb forward.” Using my fingers, I helped herget her other hand into position. “If you’re holding the guncorrectly, both of your hands should fit together like a puzzle.Bend your elbows slightly; you don’t want them to be fully locked. This will help you absorb the recoil of the weapon. Make sure youdo not hold your breath right before you press the trigger. Thatwill throw off your aim.”
“And my aim will be subparat best.”
“Actually, that’s foranyone firing off a gun, novice or expert. But that’s what practiceis for.” I explained how to get her natural point of aim. “Are youready? Do you have your target in sight?”
“Yes.” Her word came outbreathless and I couldn’t help imagining her when she had beenpanting underneath me while I was fucking her.
I had to shake my thoughts free andfocus on the task at hand. “Okay, you want to lean your bodyforward slightly and then finger on the trigger andpull.”
She fired the weapon withouthesitation and squealed, but the recoil wasn’t too bad.
“Take another shot,Sweetheart. Unload a few and then we’ll see how youdid.”
After she discharged several morerounds, emptying her magazine, she slowly and carefully set her gundown on the wooden slab that was acting as a table. Swinging herastonished gaze to me, she gave me a huge triumphant smile. “Thatwasn’t bad. Maybe because you were standing right here with yourhands on me.” Her thoughts turned inward briefly before she shookthem away. “Anyway, a couple more times with you right there andthen maybe step away so I can see how it feels when it’s justme?”
“Whatever you need, Sage.Let’s walk down and check the damage.”
Since we were still the only ones outhere, it was safe to head down to the targets. When we got to theone lined up with her stall, she froze and dropped herjaw.
“I got one in the shoulderand one along the outside of the chest. That’s pretty good. I meanit’s still a failing grade but I hit the target twice.”
“That’s damn impressive.And you’ll only get better.”
We walked back to the pavilion and Ihelped her reload and get into the position to fire off morerounds. After a few more times, she was confident enough to attemptthings on her own. I stood nearby and gave her little nudges, butshe was well on her way to heading toward proficient without myassistance. In between turns, she’d ask questions to make sure sheunderstood everything involved with operating and firing theweapon. And each time we walked down to scope out her accuracy, she’d be amazed. Every series, she would hit the target at leastthree times and a couple times four of her bullets hit their mark. She never managed to nail the target square in the chest or in itshead, but a hit was a hit as far as I was concerned. At least fornow. Over two hours later, we headed inside so I could show her howto clean the weapon. Then we gathered extra ammo and I had her tuckeverything into her purse.
When we stepped out into the hallway,a large rumble of voices traveled through the main area.
“Wow, must be a party weweren’t invited to.” I chuckled. There was almost always somethinggoing on here, especially on the weekends and evenings, even ifjust a group of brothers were hanging out drinking, so I wassurprised we had the place to ourselves up until this point.Although we didn’t have anyone actually living here so maybe theywere all nursing hangovers from last night and were just nowgetting up.
Tucking Sage under my arm, we strolledtoward the noise.
However, Remus stepping out of hisoffice caused us to pause.
“I didn’t want to botheryou while you were instructing.” He shot me a cocky smirk. “But Piptexted me a few minutes ago and said they were on their way.”Shoving his hand up, he stalled my outburst. “I know. We had movedit to tomorrow, but I was able to get a bunch of brothers to headin, you can hear the noise.” Using the hand still in the air, hejabbed his thumb toward the rec area. “So I figured we’d get thisover with. They had something pop up that some of them have to dealwith tomorrow and they were polite when they requested coming todayas originally planned.”
“I don’t have anyone tohang out with Sage. I won’t leave her here alone. I don’t trust thecunts and I don’t know if she’s in any danger from Wasp.” I didn’twant her harassed and I didn’t want her being put atrisk.
“No one who is unwantedwill get in our doors, Ryder. She’s safe. Are you saying yoursecurity system could be breeched, that it isn’t the best?” Now hewas mocking me.
“Fine, the cunts startanything, Sage is armed; can she shoot them?” With my own smirk, Itaunted right back.
“You’re such a dicksometimes, Ryder.” Remus pulled out his phone and sent a text.“I’ll have Misti or Angel here shortly. We’re still waiting on someof our guys and them so chill the fuck out.” With that he stormedoff.
Sage blinked up at me. “I don’t wantto cause problems for you here. We didn’t have to bug the girls ifthey had other plans. I’ll be okay hanging out here while you’re inthe meeting. I put up with bitches before; it’s no bigdeal.”
“You’re wearing my vest; Iprotect what’s mine.”
Her expression wavered betweenconfusion and uncertainty. But then she settled in beside me againand we walked out to where the group was congregating. Multiplesmacks on the back and congratulations ensued and more membersflowed inside, Misti and Angel part of the swarm. The two girlseach grabbed one of Sage’s arms and tugged her into the recarea.
Most of the guys sauntered back to getsituated for the meeting, while Grayson and I waited for Pip andwhoever else he was bringing.
Ten minutes later, Pip and three otherguys walked through our door.
After searching them for weapons, Inodded for them to follow us. When we stepped inside the room, theconversations stopped and all eyes – which were full of suspicionand dislike – landed on the Pyro Devils.
“Alright, we agreed to meetwith these guys so that we could be brought up to speed on somehappenings that might be going on under our noses and behind ourbacks.” Remus gestured to our guests. “Stand up here and fill us inon what you know and even some things you suspect. That way we cancome up with our own ideas as well.”
