I wanted to nibble her lip as well andthen soothe it with my tongue. I mentally shook that idea away. Shewas so sweet and beautiful and honest. It was too bad I hadn’t mether before . . . well I couldn’t change my past. I gave her asmile. “When they opened a chapter here, I jumped at theopportunity because I love the warmer weather and lack ofsnow.”
Sage giggled. “Big muscular guy likeyou doesn’t like to be cold.”
I raised my eyebrow at her.
“Oops.” Her eyes grew wideand she clapped her hand over her mouth to hide another giggle.“You don’t like to shovel and would rather sun bathe?”
“Something like that.” Myown mouth twitched and I couldn’t stop the chuckle that escaped.“Maybe we’ll do that one day. Did you happen to buy a swimsuit orwill we have to sun bathe naked?”
A blush crawled across her cheeks. “Iguess I opened myself up for that. I’ll have to get one the nexttime we go shopping. Maybe I can use my own money forone.”
“If you don’t have yourfirst paycheck by the next time you girls go; I’ll pay for it. Butonly if it is a bikini.” I winked at her.
“I guess that soundsfair.”
We spent the next couple of hourssharing a little about our childhoods and Sage would ask questionsabout what I was doing on the car, as if she was really interestedin my work not doing it to be polite. Anytime Jensen had to wait amere fifteen minutes for me to finish, she couldn’t be bothered toeven take a peek at what I was working on. I had to stop comparingthe two. There was no comparison but it didn’t really matteranyway. And most of the time Sage was content to watch me work, herexpression always inquisitive, never bored or annoyed.
At the end of the work day, Irearranged my tools on the bench and then washed my hands beforeleading Sage out to the main bays.
“I’ll see you guys at theclub later.” I nodded to Bolt and Skip. “Are you two the only otherones here?”
“Yeah, everyone else tookoff about twenty minutes ago. Hedge said he’d come in at six thirtytomorrow for an early inspection. Skip and I told everyone we’dclose up. And yeah, we’ll see you at the club. The other guys saidthey’d be there too. Is Sage coming with you?”
“Until I know she’s safefrom the Brutal Demons, yes. She won’t be anywhere by herself.Misti and Angel will be there tonight so she doesn’t have to hangout with the cunts.”
Bolt and Skip chuckled.
“Their mouths are only goodfor one thing, that’s for sure. Sorry, Sage.” Bolt gave Sage asheepish smile.
“No apologies necessary.I’ve been in the club life for five years now.”
“Bolt is one of the fewbrothers who tries to curb his language around the ladies. He wasborn and raised in the South so it’s hard for him to break awayfrom his gentleman upbringing.”
Sage and I headed out back to the lot. After we hopped on the bike, I twisted around to face her. “I wasplanning for us to stop for dinner at Twisted Eats. That way wecould grab some food and talk about getting you a job theretoo.”
“I like that idea. But youhave to start letting me cook dinner sometime soon. All this eatingout and I won’t fit in that bikini you wanted me to get.” Shegnawed on that lip again. “Why do I keep saying things likethat?”
After kissing the crown of her head, Iadjusted the helmet on her head. Then I started up the bike andsteered us in the direction of the restaurant. I didn’t want her tostop her innocent flirting even though deep down I was well awareit was going to lead us somewhere I didn’t want to go. Not that Ididn’t want to lick, taste, and fuck Sage, but I didn’t want tohurt her because to me it would only be a fuck. I didn’t have it inme for it to transform into anything else.
About five minutes down the road, Ipulled into a parking spot in Twisted Eats’ lot. I helped Sage offof the bike and the two of us stepped inside theentrance.
“Hey, Ryder. So great tosee you.” An older gentleman with black hair that was graying athis temples and sparkling blue eyes greeted the two of us. Runninga restaurant put many pounds on him, but he still moved with thegrace of a panther. He shook my outstretched hand. Then his eyeslit on Sage. “And who is this beautiful little flower?” Taking herhand in his, he tenderly kissed her knuckles. “No wait. Come backwith me. Let’s get you two a table and some food ordered and thenyou can fill me in on how you ensnared such a beauty.” He led us toa small booth in the back.
The inside had been updated when ourclub took ownership of the business. Tables were arrangedthroughout the main dining area and small and large booths werespread along the perimeter. The girls from our club had been incharge of the interior design once the overhaul was completed. Thewalls had been repaired and then painted a bright blue and theceilings had been mended and dark wooden beams were added to givethe place a subtle rustic look. Wildflowers in mason jars served ascenterpieces. And the light fixtures were also mason jars paintedin various light colors.
Once we were seated, Randy handed useach a menu. “I’m a little short staffed today so I will be yourwaiter. I hope you are pleased with my service.” He gave us aplayful grin. “Can I get you something to drink while you peruseyour dinner choices?”
“Can I get a lemonade?”Sage peered up from her menu.
“I’ll take an iced tea.” Iwondered if the staffing problem was due to call offs or if someonehad quit. I didn’t get a chance to ask since he rushed off to getour drinks.
“Everything looks reallygood on here.” Sage flipped back and forth through thepages.
“Our main chef is amazingand he trains and supports the others well. He is actually Bolt’sblood brother. Didn’t have an interest in the MC life, but heserves us well with his culinary skills. Do you want to ask Randyabout a job or would you like me to bring it up?”
She blinked up at me. “Thank you. Ithink I can do it. He seems very nice.”
Randy set our drinks down in front ofus. “I think we’re under control for now. So I can come back if youstill need some time to decide.”
