“She’ll get used to it.”

“No,” Logan insisted. “She won’t.” He stacked another chair and turned to look at Levi as he wiped his hands together. “Earlier, she saw me in here and I thought she was actually going to throw one of those glass things at me.”

Levi glanced in the direction Logan was pointing to. “A vase?” he asked with an eye roll. “You thought she was going to throw a vase at you?”

“Yes.”

Levi had to work hard not to laugh out loud. His cousin definitely had a flair for the dramatic. Especially where Faith was concerned.

“And what did you do or say to deserve that?”

He also knew his cousin well, and knew that there was no way Loganhadn’tsaid or done something.

“Nothing.”

Levi narrowed his eyes and tipped his head.

“Well, I might have said something about her ass.”

“Herass?” Levi’s mouth fell open. Even for Logan, that was a bit too far. He’d always liked to push Faith’s buttons, but there was a line. “Logan. You can’t talk about her ass. Too far.”

Logan shrugged. “Well, I complimented it at least.”

Again, Levi looked at him skeptically.

“Okay,” Logan confessed. “I said that her ass didn’t look quite as hard in the jeans she was wearing. I mean, for a hard ass, that’s a compliment, right?”

Levi groaned and dipped his head in an effort to cover his laughter from his cousin. Finally, he was able to pull himself together. “Logan, come on. Can you at least try? For me? For Hope?”

Logan didn’t answer, but shrugged and walked across the room to start stacking a new set of chairs. “I said I’d help out,” he said. “But it doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy.”

Levi couldn’t help but think there was more to it than what Logan was saying. But there was nothing to be gained from prying into his cousin’s affairs the night before he was set to get on a plane and start the honeymoon of a lifetime with his new wife.

It still gave him a little thrill to think of Hope as his wife. Finally. He should have married her years ago. Not that he had any regrets. None at all. Everything worked out the way it was supposed to. Just like things would work out with Logan and Faith at the ranch while they were gone.

He glanced over at his cousin again and shook his head. Well, at least he could hope that everything would work out.

“Do you have any more questions for me about what to do around here?”

Logan shook his head. “Not unless you can tell me how to get Faith on my good side.”

Levi laughed. “Maybe you could start by not calling her a hard ass, or referring to her ass at all.”

Logan looked at him as if he were considering it before shaking his head and laughing. “Nah. That won’t work.”

His cousin was nothing if not consistent. “Well, at the very least, try not to piss her off tonight, okay? Wait until I get Hope on a plane and out of here before you go to war with her sister. I want Hope to feel okay about leaving Ever After Ranch incapablehands.” He used air quotes and shook his head when Logan shrugged.

“I’ll do my best. Now get out of here so I can finish this up and get to your farewell dinner.”

Levi couldn’t argue with that. Besides, it did look like his cousin had a solid grasp on what was going on with the upcoming weddings. No doubt there’d be a few bumps along the road, but Levi was confident that Faith would be able to handle it. She’d be able to handle Logan, too. He was certain of it, even if it was the last thing she might want to do. Faith would get him in line.

On his way back up to the house, he spotted his new sister-in-law walking alone in the direction of the river. He waved at her, but she either didn’t see him or was ignoring him. Either way, he’d see her soon enough. They’d planned one last family dinner at the house before he and Hope got on the plane in the morning and began the first leg of their journey.

That was, if Hope ever finished packing.

“Hey there, Mrs. Langdon.” He wrapped his arms around his beautiful wife as she stood in front of her closet and hugged her tight. “I am never going to get tired of saying that.” He kissed her neck and she moaned a little as she leaned into his attentions.

“And I’m never going to get tired of hearing it.” Hope turned in his arms and kissed him deeply. “I’m glad I decided to take your name.”
