ChapterOne

There was somuch to do, and as was always the case, not enough time to get any of it done. Faith Turner downed the last of her cup of coffee and moved to refill it, but the pot was empty.Empty.She’d drank an entire pot of coffee. Bad coffee at that. She was definitely not known for her culinary skills, and somehow that extended to the simple act of making coffee.

Still, desperate times called for desperate measures and she was certainly desperate to stay awake. At least until she could cross some things off her to-do list. There was still a full month left in prime wedding season, and August was looking more and more like it would be a very full month for celebrations at Ever After Ranch, the wedding venue Faith now co-owned with her identical twin sister, Hope.

With Hope and her husband Levi on what was supposed to be a world-traveling honeymoon trip, the weddings had all fallen to Faith to planandexecute. A huge task for most, but especially for a woman who quite vocally and adamantly declared that the whole idea of love was bullshit. A wedding planner who didn’t believe in love! Not even the most optimistic residents of Glacier Falls actually thought that Faith would be able to make a go of it. To be fair, neither did Faith herself.

Although, if she was asked—at least by a close friend—Faith might actually admit that her feelings on the matter were starting to change.

How could they not?

She’d witnessed more demonstrations of true love in the last few months at the ranch than she had in her entire life leading up to being a reluctant wedding planner.Maybe there was something to it after all?

The thought made her smile as she yanked the freshly washed sheets out of the dryer and headed up to the second floor of her childhood home. Her sister was coming home from her honeymoon much earlier than planned. Faith was not excited that the only reason Hope and Levi were coming home early was because of Hope’s health. But still, it would be good to have her home. Especially considering she was pregnant.

Never mind the cancer diagnosis that Hope had received right before quickly getting married and jetting off on an around-the-world adventure, where she got knocked up.

No matter what the circumstances, it would be good to have her close again. Their arrival was still a few days away, but if she didn’t get their room made up now, it wouldn’t happen. The next few days were going to be packed. There’d be little time for making beds, let alone sleeping. With one last wistful thought toward her empty coffee pot, Faith made quick work of the bed and headed back to her own room, stripping her clothes off and scattering them on the floor as she went.

She wasn’t a messy person as a general rule, and her lowered standards were going to have to be picked up again soon with Hope and Levi moving in, but at least for a few more days she’d have the place to herself.

Faith let the hot shower water steam up in her attached bathroom before stepping inside and closing the glass door behind her. It felt good to let the water melt the tension from her shoulder muscles and she dropped her head back into the stream with a satisfied sigh.

She had a huge meeting later this morning with probably the biggest client Ever After Ranch had ever seen. Stephanie Starz was the hottest celebrity in Hollywood and if she wanted to get married at the ranch, well, Faith was going to make sure she pulled it off and give Stephanie the wedding of her dreams. Despite the minor detail that she was deeply in over her head.

She should be preparing. Going over her notes one last time about the latest movies Stephanie had been in and the little Canadian town she herself had grown up in so Faith could relate it to Glacier Falls and why it was the perfect place for her to get married. In fact, she probably didn’t have time to really enjoy the shower or dillydally at all. But the hot water felt so good that she allowed herself the luxury of a few more minutes before working the shampoo into her long blonde locks.

She closed her eyes and once more tipped her head back, letting the hot water soothe her. A groan escaped her lips as the sudsy water washed out and down the drain. How was it that a simple shower could feel so damn good?

“I wish my showers were so satisfying.”

What the—

Faith’s head shot up, but with soap in her eyes, she wiped at them, trying to see the owner of the voice. Not that she needed to. She knew exactly who had just walked into herbathroom!

“What the fuck, Logan?” Faith screamed and tried in vain to cover her body. Although the steamy glass door was probably providing some privacy. “I’m in theshower!”

“Oh, don’t worry,” came his reply. “I can see that.”

She didn’t have to see his eyes to know how they would have gleamed with the comment. And that little detail alone was enough to infuriate her. She shouldn’t know him so well. But she did.

And it pissed her off almost more than the fact that he was in her bathroom uninvited.

“Get out!” she hissed.

“No can do, Faith.”

“What?” She was going to start throwing shampoo bottles at him if he didn’t get his ass out of her bathroom—and soon. “Of course you can.”

“Well, sure. I can…but I’m moving in, so I need to—”

“You arewhat?”

Logan was a lot of things. Primarily, he was way too cocky for his own good, way too sexy forherown good, and besides both of those things, an almost constant, annoying presence in her life. Like a pebble in her shoe. Yes, he was a lot of things. But an idiot wasn’t one of them. So why would he think he was—

“Oh no,” she said as soon as she connected the dots in her head. “You arenotmoving in.”

“I have to,” he said simply. “You’re the love of my life, remember?”
