Faith was already up, and dressed. Her hair was wrapped up in a towel, and fresh from the shower, she was gorgeous. For a minute, he forgot why he’d barged in so frantically. Faith turned and stared at him. For a minute, her face screwed up into a frown, and he was sure she was going to yell at him.

Logan held his hands up and before she had a chance to say anything, he said, “Stephanie’s here.”

Her face registered the problem quickly as she took in the blanket in his hand, and his rumpled appearance.

“You slept on the couch.”

It wasn’t a question. But still, he answered it, his voice low.

“I didn’t think you would want me to…”

She looked away but didn’t say a word.

“It doesn’t matter.” He moved across the room to her, and tossed the blanket on the bed. “She walked in on me sleeping. I told her I didn’t want to disturb you by coming to bed so late, but I don’t know if—”

“Shit.”

He couldn’t help but chuckle. “That’s what I said.”

“I forgot that I invited her over this morning.” Faith pulled the towel from her hair and combed her fingers through the wet locks. “I just didn’t think you were going to…it doesn’t matter.”

It did.

“You didn’t think I’d what?”

“I told you,” she said. “It doesn’t matter. I need to get down there. I did invite her over, after all, and Hope will be…” Her face shifted into a brilliant smile. “I didn’t even get a chance to talk to her last night, she was so tired.”

Logan couldn’t help but be touched by their closeness. As happy as he was to see Levi, he knew it was nothing compared to the bond between the twins. “Well, now she’s here again and the good news about that is that you have plenty of time together.”

Faith stopped what she was doing and looked at him with a soft smile. “That’s exactly it.” But then the smile was gone, replaced again by the frantic look in her eyes. “I can’t believe she saw you on the couch. Do you think she believed it? Do you think she knows?” Faith shook her head without waiting for an answer. “We never should have tried to—”

He cut her off with a kiss. Logan had to work hard to keep the kiss chaste enough that he didn’t want to throw her back on the bed and show her exactly what she’d been missing, sleeping alone.

When he pulled away. Faith was breathless, but only for a minute.

Then she looked as if she might straight up punch him. “What the hell, Logan?”

He smiled as innocently as he could. “I thought maybe when you go downstairs it would help if you were a little flushed with thatjust thoroughly kissedlook, that’s all.” He stepped back and looked her up and down, which he knew would make her crazy annoyed. “Mission accomplished.”

Before she could respond, or more likely, hit him, he squeezed past her and into the bathroom. Faith was right; she needed to get downstairs. And he needed to shower up and join them.

But first he needed to slow his pulse and cool his blood, becausedamnthat woman. Even when she was mad enough to hit him, she turned him completely inside out.

“Stephanie!” Faith ran into the kitchen. There’d been no time to brush her hair out properly, let alone put any makeup on. It was bad enough she’d slept in, and with Logan on the couch…she didn’t even want to think about it. The lie they’d told was bad, definitely, but now that they were in it, it would be even worse if they got discovered in such a terrible way. Stephanie did seem to be an understanding person, but no one liked to be lied to and the publicity from that…no way. She wasn’t going to risk it. “I’m so sorry I wasn’t down here to greet you.” Faith gave Stephanie a quick hug.

“Not to worry.” Her smile was sweet and she genuinely didn’t seem to be upset by the delay. “Besides, it gave me a chance to get to know Levi, who makes a delicious cup of coffee.”

“It’s not me.” Levi grinned. “It’s all in the beans. I can’t take any actual credit.”

“I don’t know.” Faith laughed as she poured herself a cup. “I think it must be genetic because Logan has mad coffee skills, too.”

At the mention of Logan, Stephanie’s smile dipped and there was a question in her eyes. “I didn’t mean to wake him up this morning,” she said. “I didn’t know he was—”

“It’s totally fine.” Faith waved away her apology. “He should have just come up to bed last night. Sometimes I think he’s a little too thoughtful. He’s more embarrassed than anything else.”

From behind her, she heard Levi choke on a laugh, but she ignored him and looked to Stephanie instead. “Has Levi been filling you in on all the romantic details of his own love story with my sister?”

Levi laughed. “I’ll leave all the gory details up to you women,” he said. “In fact, I was just going to go get Hope and set her up in the living room, if you’re ready for a visit.”
