Her breath quickened, her breasts lifting and falling between them.
He shifted between her legs, poised at her entrance. “But if we do this…”
Steph sucked in a sharp breath.Would it change everything? Would he walk away? Had he meant it when he said he wanted all of her? That he wanted to try but he couldn’t make any promises? What would change if they did it?“What?” she finally asked. “If we do this, what?”
His eyes flashed with mischief, as his hand once more moved up, this time to her breast where he rolled first one nipple between two fingers, followed by the other before pinching it just a little and refocusing on her. “If we do this,” he said again, “I’m not sleeping on that couch tonight.” A promise and something else flashed in his eyes.
“Oh, that’s for sure.” Steph reached between them and wrapped her hand around the length of him. She squeezed gently enough to take his breath away and his eyes to close before her hand slipped up his chest. “But who said anything about sleeping?”
Travis’s eyes snapped open and then it was her turn to have her breath taken away as he entered her with one strong thrust.
Her head fell back as she let her body grow accustomed to him. And it didn’t take long, because, as if they were made to come together, he was a perfect fit with her body.
Her hands came up around him and squeezed his ass as he began to move inside her. Her fingers twisted through his hair, pulling his mouth to hers. Every thrust sent electric waves through her body. It didn’t take long before the familiar heat flowed through her, and her muscles tightened as her climax grew inside her.
“Look at me,” Travis demanded when she closed her eyes. “Steph,” he urged, gentler this time. “I want to see you.”
She did as he asked, and her eyes locked with his right as the climax that she’d been holding at bay took over her body. She watched as his own eyes darkened watching her lose control, and it made her own release that much more intense. And then it was his turn and Stephanie watched as Travis’s orgasm washed over and through him, too.
It was only after they were both satiated and had the quilt pulled up over their bodies, his arm wrapped around her waist and her body tucked up against his hard warmth, that Stephanie thought, not only did he have her attention, now he had her body. And dammit if he didn’t have more than that.
She didn’t know what that meant yet, but she couldn’t help but think she’d either just made a huge mistake or a huge leap. Either way, the very concept of ever beingjust friendswith Travis Bishop suddenly seemed ridiculous. He was so much more. Maybe he always had been.
ChapterTen
When they were finallyable to pull themselves away from the bed—and each other—Travis had more than worked up an appetite.
“I never made you breakfast,” Stephanie said from across the room, where she was rummaging through her closet.
Travis watched as she pulled some lacy panties from a drawer and slowly slipped them over one leg and then the other.
“Holy shit.” He groaned and fell back on the bed, ideas of getting dressed and finally having breakfast completely abandoned in favor of tearing those lacy purple panties she’d just put on right off her body.
“What?” Stephanie turned, now dressed in a matching purple bra. “Did you say something?”
Travis sat up and scrubbed a hand over his face. “You are going to make it very hard to focus on breakfast,” he said as she walked across the room to him, a sly smile on her lips. “Or anything else, for that matter.”
She straddled his lap and kissed him thoroughly as his hands splayed across her back and instinctively reached for the clasp of her bra.
“Oh no.” She slipped from his lap before he could successfully unwrap her again. “Breakfast,” she said. “You have to eat.” She slipped a T-shirt on and grabbed a pair of jeans from the closet. “Besides, I cooked bacon.” Her eyes lit up. “Do you know how long it’s been since I’ve had bacon?”
Travis laughed. “Don’t tell me you’re the type of woman who deprives herself of the delicious things in life.” He finished dressing and followed her out into the main room, where Tinker Bell was asleep on the couch. He gave the dog a pat. “You do eat bacon, right?”
Stephanie shrugged. “Not very often.” She moved about the small kitchen, pulling out bowls and frying pans. “But it’s not about deprivation. It’s about work.”
“Work?”
“Like it or not, how I look is a big part of my job. If I’m playing a role where I need to be all sexy and—”
He cut her off by wrapping his arms around her and pulling her back into his body. “You’re always sexy.” He nipped at her neck, and she groaned in response as she leaned back into him. “You definitely don’t need to avoid bacon to be sexy.”
Stephanie laughed. “Tell that to my nutritionist.” She slipped from his arms, and Travis immediately felt the loss of her warm body.
“Nutritionist?” He poured himself a fresh cup of coffee. “Don’t tell me you have a trainer, too?”
She looked over her shoulder and winked. “Okay, I won’t tell you.”
“Seriously?” He never really thought of Stephanie as a movie star, or a huge celebrity. Not really. Even when Logan had mentioned it the day before, Travis had dismissed it as an unimportant detail. It was. She was just Stephanie. Sexy, funny, sweet, feisty, smart Stephanie. The woman he was very, very quickly developing a whole lot of feelings for.
