Craig wasn’t even remotely surprised that Kat already knew his plans to add more candies and treats to the shop. There were no secrets in their family. More the reason to keep his thoughts about Lucy to himself.
“It’s not that.” Truthfully, he hadn’t been able to concentrate much on the projections or details Chase had presented to him last week, which was a whole different problem he should probably dedicate some time to.
“Is it Meri? Is she?—”
“She’s great, too.” Craig smiled at the thought of his daughter. “More than great, really. She’s really taken to Lucy. I sometimes forget that it’s only been a few weeks. They have their own little routines already, and I’m always hearingLucy thisandLucy that.”
“That’s awesome. She’s really going to love it when Lucy moves in, hey?”
“When she?—”
“Yeah.” Kat raised one eyebrow. “I was under the impression she was moving into your spare room because the chocolate maker person Chase hired was moving into the suite upstairs.”
Shit.
He’d been so wrapped up in his own thoughts about Lucy he’d completely forgotten about how their living situation was going to change. And worse, he hadn’t even talked to her about it.
“Right.” He dragged out the syllables of the word.
“Craig?”
“Um…here’s the thing.”
“You didn’t tell her.”
“I didn’t tell her.”
“What?” Kat’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“I know. I know. I meant to, I just…” There was no way he could explain to her that he’d been so distracted by his sexy new nanny that he’d completely forgotten about the very not-so-small detail that she was going to need to move out of her rental and into his house in less than forty-eight hours.
And that was going to bring with it a whole different set of problems.
Like sharing a bathroom.Lucy, naked in his shower.
What did she wear to bed? He guessed it was just a simple tank top with panties. But maybe it was something silky? Or nothing at all?
What if she wanted to bring her date home? No. Just…no.
He balled his hands into fists on top of the table and shook his head.
“Craig? What the hell?”
He shook his head clear, flattened his hands on the table, and looked at his sister. “It’s been a bit busy. But I’ll talk to her.”
“Nothing like leaving it till the last minute. Doesn’t she need to move this weekend?”
“Sunday.”
“Sunday?”
“Repeating me isn’t helping.” He pushed up from the table and tucked the chair back in before gathering his things. “I’ve had a lot going on. It totally slipped my mind.”
Kat pressed her lips together and shook her head.
“I’ll talk to her as soon as I get home,” he said in his sister’s direction before turning to Kristie, his long-running employee, and new right hand since Tom left. “You’re good here? I need to head home.”
“You know it. Don’t worry about a thing.”
