“Enid, did you talk to any fades?”
“What did they say?And why didn’t you tell us?”
“I didn’t want you to look at me differently.I mean, you are all really powerful and important.Ever since I got here, every witch and wizard at Westwood is just dying to be an elemental.I’m not that and now, I know I never will be.I mean, hello, angelic powers over here,” I replied, shrugging, and finally feeling at ease with my powers.
“But seeing ghosts is totally fucking badass, and having them talk to you, I mean, wow.Not to mention the healing and walking through realms.Damn, all I got is like, fireballs, and shit,” Tana joked, looking at me like I was nuts but for a completely different reason than I’d thought.
“Enid, we could have helped you get through whatever was happening if we knew,” Arlo chided, and Enok nodded, making me feel foolish and like a hundred times better than I thought I would.
“Let her finish,” Rio said.
“But how does your being an angel hybrid, um, a spirit witch, help us fix the rip in the fabric of our universe that’s leaking magic?”Magnus asked.
“The last fade I spoke to said there were things here that were not as they seemed.I think it’s a clue,” I answered, trying to remember the old wizard’s words.“He said foes appeared as friends at Westwood.”
“That could be anyone, but not us, right?”Jade said, eyeing every one of us like it couldn’t be true.
“Of course not us!”Maia barked, and I realized the air witch was right.
I might not know a lot about who I was, but I knew I trusted these women with my life. The kraken shifter narrowed his eyes, and I moved closer to Judge.Magnus was fearsome looking as he stood behind his mate, his hands on Rio’s shoulders. That’s when I noticed the symbol on his hand.It was supposed to be a W for Westwood, but the more I stared, the more it looked like an M.
“Your brand, or tattoo, you got that when you became a sentinel, correct?”I asked.
Everyone stilled then, and something truly magnificent began filling my brain. There was just one question.
Was this even possible?
CHAPTER13
The wheelsin my head were turning.Rio told me what it was like when she started at Westwood. Not knowing anyone and learning she was a witch had been difficult, but making friends with these women made it all easier on her.
Maia had to contend with a beastly family secret that sent her father to prison, and he was currently awaiting trial for his crimes against magic, as were other males in her family.
I was there when we discovered what Tana’s ancestor had done during the last Witch War.Jade found her own inner strength, embracing her power as an earth witch in a way no one could have predicted with the help of her mate.Mabe had learned to trust. She showed me, along with the others, the rift in the world where magic was leaking.
All of it had led us to this moment. To this time and space where I confessed, I had fades seeking me out inside academy walls, warning me about false friends. It had to be linked. As we were all linked. Our mates too.
“Yes,” Magnus nodded.“All sentinels have them.”
“You too, Brandon?”I asked the dragon shifter, and he nodded, still too distraught over the separation from his animal to speak.“Have you noticed they changed?”
“Yes,” Magnus replied immediately.“The letters look different. They even feel different now.”
“May I?”I asked, stepping closer and holding his hand up to show everyone.
“That’s because theWhas become anM.You’re not a Westwood sentinel anymore. You’re a Mobilis Coven sentinel,” Enok announced, his eyes bright with discovery.“You too, Brandon. You might not have access to your dragon right now, but he still lurks within you.And his fealty is to your mate.”
“They’re right. We have actually reformed the coven. And we have our own sentinels!”Rio murmured.
“How?”Maia asked.
“Well, we have a representative from each coven and all six of us have cried, laughed, and bled for each other. We have a bond,” Mabe said.
“Holy fuck! She’s right!Enid is right.Weare the new Mobilis Coven.”
“But I thought the coven was only made of elementals,” Enok said.
“Spirit and Blood are elements too.Just not the kind you think of when you say elemental,” Tana countered.
