I stare at her in shock, “A mobster? As in a member of the mafia?”
She giggles, “Yeah, I’m pretty sure that’s what mobsters are.”
I can’t help but wonder if the guys that are after me are mafia, too. What did my dad get us into? This has to involve him because my mom never made an enemy. But my dad, he did. I saw more than one altercation in his home office with furious men. Being the stupid teenager I was, I never took the time to listen to what was going on. Now I really wish I had.
Grabbing my free hand, she squeezes it. “I’m sorry about your family, but it’s going to be okay. I know little about this Bones guy other than he’s probably not someone you want to fuck with, but our men are capable and protective. And mobs are families, right? So there are probably even more to protect you if you need it.”
I'm completely clueless about whether she knows what she's talking about. My knowledge about the mob is quite limited. I only ever saw one episode ofThe Sopranos.Besides, I’m not sure television shows are really the way one learns about the mafia. It’s all fictional on TV anyway, isn’t it?
“Amira,” one of the two men I don’t know, barks down the hallway. I’m guessing it’s Zade.
If she’s afraid of him, it doesn’t show, considering just the sound of his voice causes her to light up like the fourth of July as she runs out of the room. I follow behind her because if I’m honest with myself; I am as lost for Sin as she is with this Zade guy. Half an hour away from him feels like a long time. God help me.
We head out to the main room where Bones and Zade are apparently leaving, so that means, of course, Amira is, too.
She hugs me. “I’ll text you.”
Sin chuckles. “We’ll see if Kierra still has access to her phone.”
He laughs again when he notices me looking around for my phone, and he holds it up. “Looking for something, baby?”
The three of them leave the apartment, and Sin glares at me. “Sit. We’re going to talk.”
I swallow hard and take a seat.
“I’ve allowed you to misbehave. That ends now. I have expectations you will follow to a ‘T’ and if you don’t, you will be punished. This is no longer about giving you want you want, Kierra. It’s about keeping you safe.”
I nod silently and he continues, “You will not leave here without me. For any reason. If I catch you attempting to sneak out, I don’t even know what the punishment will be, but it’ll be severe. Do you understand why?”
I shrug defiantly. “Yeah. You make rules and I follow them or else.”
Sin raises an eyebrow in clear irritation. “You must really like being spanked. It’s as if you’re begging for it. I don’t make rules for something to do. I will not allow anything to happen to you, Kierra. I’m not a man accustomed to living in fear. The thought of losing you is the only thing that terrifies me, so please, this once, do as you’re told.”
His words cause emotion to swell in my throat. With a nod, I swallow around the lump. “I will. I promise.”
Sin walks over and sits beside me. Placing his thumb and forefinger on my chin he tilts my head back and gazes into my eyes, “I’m glad you made friends with Amira. It’s good for submissives to have friends that understand what it’s like to have a Dom. However, the brat planning committee has been retired. Understood?”
“Yes, Daddy.”
He rubs his thumb over my bottom lip, “Good. I’d much prefer to spend my time making you explode with orgasmsrather than punishing you. Ultimately, it’s your choice. Your behavior dictates my actions.”
CHAPTER 28
SIN
“Iwon’t leave here without you, but what if they find me here?”
Cupping her face with my hands, “I promise you, I have security stationed outside. No one will touch you here.”
Her mind keeps spinning. It’s written all over her beautiful face, “What if I’m out with you and you get hurt or worse because of me? I can’t-”
As if the sentence is too painful to finish, she stops mid sentence.
“Baby girl, nothing will happen to either of us. We are already working on finding them long before they even figure out where you are. I need you to trust me. Can you do that?”
Her eyes fill with unshed tears. “Yes, Daddy. I trust you.”
I slide my hand from her face, down her arm and she shivers from the contact, but she stops me from doing what I really want to be doing. “You said you’d be honest with me about anything.”
