Page 66 of Psycho

The woman beside me is a young blonde, with pretty blue eyes, although a little hazy right now, with the sobbing.

“What’s your name?”

I have no idea why I ask, but when she answers me, my chest cracks wide open with so much pain, I think someone is ripping my heart from my chest.

“Hadley,” she answers softly between hiccups, and I just shake my head.

Such a fucking unusual name, and here it is.

Pulling out my phone, I dial Chief Roberts’ number.

“There’s a bloodbath at Lollipop. Sixteen dead bodies, and a bunch of women that I suspect may be trafficking victims. As always, send your trusted.”

I disconnect the call, and put my phone in my pocket.

“Stay here. The police will be here soon.”

CHAPTER FORTY

PSYCHO

Two Days Later…

Bones talked this guy up, and made me believe, with my whole fucking black heart, that he’d find her, so his words stun me.

He scratches his head and stares at me regretfully.

“We don’t know where she is, man. Not a fucking clue.”

I grip the glass in my hand, and my nostrils flare, as my brother watches me cautiously. He knows I’m on the edge of an explosion.

Throwing the glass at the wall behind Max’s head, it shatters, and he jumps out of his seat angrily, as my brother jumps up with the same speed.

“I’ve got this.”

He stands over me, as I continue to sit on the sofa, with my other brothers on either side of me. Bones glares at me, but it doesn’t faze me, but his words cut like a goddamn knife.

“We will fucking find her. Nobody is giving up, but let’s not forget that you set this into motion, brother. You decided to sell your favorite toy, like trash you had no further use for. We will find Hadley, and then you’re going to let her go, because you don’t fucking deserve her.”

“Never,” I growl in response.

My brother arches an eyebrow at me, and stares at me like he wants to kill me right here, right now, and I’m not sure I’d even fight him if he tried.

“I fucking know I don’t deserve her. That does not change anything. She belongs to me now, and she will be mine, forever. Do what you need to,brother, but this won’t change.”

Max clears his throat, clearly done with our family bullshit, and says, “As I was saying, we don’t know where she is, and I think we need to bring in the De Luca family. Their IT guy is the best there is. Besides, once we locate her, it won’t hurt to have extra men.”

“Benji,” Bones and I say in unison.

My brother is close with Domenic De Luca, although I’m better friends with Drake. He’s a little more my speed, a little closer to my side of crazy. They are a good family, and have always had our back, and we have theirs.

I nod, because I know Max is right. There’s nobody better at finding shit that someone doesn’t want found, than Benji.

“When can we get him here? It has been two days, and we all know what he’s doing to her.”

I fist my hands at my sides, my blood boiling, as I try to push those thoughts from my mind. Max jerks his chin to the door as Benji walks in.

“Everybody knows you as Psycho, because that’s how you conduct yourself. That’s fine in your family business. In my house, you’ll conduct yourself with the respect I deserve. I have a family, and will not have some asshole in my home, throwing shit like an angry two-year-old. If you weren’t a Bonetti, you’d be eliminated for arranging the sale of a goddamn woman. A woman I’d bet my bank account you love. Figure your shit out on your own time.”
