Nick: Well, there’s one way to find out.

Holy mother of all pastries. I almost choke on my last bite. This hot man is so freaking bold. Not that anyone has ever tried my pie. And quite honestly, I don’t know that I’d ever be relaxed enough to let any man taste my ‘Lady Cake’ as my patient so eloquently put it. But the mere fact he put that out there… okay, so I’m not going to be sleeping tonight for a whole different reason.

Nick: I’m teasing, by the way, winky face emoji

Again, with the face-cracking grin. I need to finish typing these notes and get out of here. I review a few more charts and sign off for the night when I feel my phone buzz again. I’m laughing in anticipation as I pull my phone back out of my pocket and place it on the counter.

Unknown number: I’d reconsider. I know what you do in the dark…

Chapter Seven

Nick

I wake with a smile on my face. On a Wednesday. A big ass smile on my face. I haven’t had that much fun with a woman in years. That says a lot, considering the woman wasn’t even in the same room with me. I have to admit. It’s going to be an uphill battle trying not to fall for this beautiful girl when I’d rather spend a night texting her than sleeping with anyone else.

I stand and head toward the kitchen for a cup of coffee, knowing it’ll be a full day in the office, followed by dinner with Gavin. Lord only knows how things will go with him tonight. I wonder if I’ll meet his mother? I only briefly introduced myself at the Big Brothers’ Association office last week. She’s attractive, but time has not been kind to her. Either years in the sun, hard-living, or a stressful existence has given her a tired, sallow look. Her face is overly made up, and her hair is over-processed, but she’s maintained a decent figure. I’m curious when Gavin’s father left the scene. Was this recent, or has he ever been a part of Gavin’s life?

I head back up to my shower, taking two steps at a time. Turning on the hot spray, I shed my clothes and enter. Standing beneath the rain showerhead, I attempt to clear my head of these questions and instead return to the texts of last night. A grin reappears almost instantly.

It was all in fun, but I’d seriously like the opportunity to taste Kat. All of her. I can’t help but picture myself devouring her sweet skin from stem to stern as I lather up my body. Kissing her soft lips, her throat, sucking from her pretty pink nipples. As I grip my hardening cock and give it a consolation stroke, I try to imagine dropping to my knees to lick and nibble at that sweet pussy. Hell, that’s all it takes. I’m hard as fuck now. I can almost picture her swollen flesh glistening for me. Stroking my swollen dick, I try to calm the pulsating ache.Ah, I can only imagine how she’d taste on my tongue.God, Ineedthis woman. I want to make her come with my fingers, my mouth, my dick. Tugging more firmly now, I pick up my pace as I visualize her face enraptured in lust as she goes over the edge while I finger her, sucking ravenously on her clit. I moan out my release onto the shower tiles, panting, desperately wanting to see that fantasy come to life.

“Dr. Barnes, your patient scheduled at 1:00 p.m. called to say he was in too much pain to come to the office today.” The morning has moved along smoothly since coming to work and focusing on concrete tasks versus fantasies of my favorite PA. “He decided he’s going to the ER instead,” the receptionist advises.Yeah, I’d rather be there too, Mr. Dalton.I guess I have time to grab some lunch until I get a call from the ER about his arrival.

I walk down the hall toward the physician’s lounge and unlock the door with my badge. As I step inside, I see several physicians are chatting over lunch. I still don’t know many people at St. Luke’s, and the ones I do know don’t often get a break to eat. I look over the day’s lunch offerings and wonder if Kat might be here today.Shame there’s no pie on the menu, I chuckle to myself.

“Cracking yourself up is the first sign you’re losing it,” I hear a familiar voice whisper.

Looking to my left, I see Jake Harris snickering in my direction. “You’re right. I might need to face it. How’ve you been?”

“I’m okay. Just a busy time of year with the kids. Between sports, fall festivals, apple picking, and pumpkin patches, I’m exhausted. Hey, that reminds me. Every year Mel and I throw a huge costume party at our house. It’s our favorite holiday, and we go all out. You should come. Halloween’s on a Saturday this year, so unless you’re on call, you should be off.”

“I might have a game that afternoon, but otherwise, I’d love to come by. I’m not really the costume type, though.”

“Just wear your soccer uniform. You’ll blend right in.” He snorts. “At least you don’t have Melanie planning your outfit. Every year, I hold my breath and hope whatever it is will allow me to still drink and take a leak if I need to.” Scratching the back of his neck, he continues, “Yeah, you’ll look like some soccer stud, and I’ll be dressed as a pregnant nun.”

Chuckling, I grab a sandwich and a bottle of water. “Well, on that note, I need to head back. Oh, you might see a patient of mine soon. Apparently, he was in too much pain to come to his appointment, so he may turn up in your ER today. Feel free to call me if Mr. Dalton arrives, and you need any help with him. He needs an MRI of his knee, but so far, his insurance company hasn’t issued the approval. I could run down and give him a cortisone injection if he prefers. Just call and let me know.” Backing toward the door, I offer a quick wave and head back to the office, proud of myself for leaving Kat out of the conversation.Hmm, what would that saucy little Minx dress like for Halloween, I wonder?

The end of the workday has finally arrived and I’m able to leave on time as the rest of my day was pretty uneventful. Heading to pick up Gavin for dinner, I’m thankful not to have the anxiety I had last week. Should be a short visit as it’s a school night. I look at the GPS to make sure I’m headed in the right direction. This isn’t a part of town I frequent. There’s no judgment, as I don’t envy the responsibility any single parent takes on, and I’m sure they live as best she can afford.

“Your destination is on your left,” the GPS navigator announces. I turn into an older apartment complex and see Gavin standing on the sidewalk. Before I can open my car door, he’s headed in my direction.

My passenger door swings wide, and he plops into the seat and whistles. “Nice ride, old man.”

“Thanks.” I guess my shiny black Audi R8 does seem a bit pretentious, but I work hard, and I love my car. “Your mom didn’t want to join us?”

“Nah. To tell the truth, I didn’t ask her. I couldn’t stomach it if she started putting the moves on you.”
