It suddenly dawns on me that many of these conversations have occurred with someone other than Kat. Hmm, how do I ask if it’s really her?

8:30 p.m.

Nick: I’m assuming after seeing you this afternoon, you’re off tonight. Didn’t know if I needed to make another delivery.

8:35 p.m.

Kat: Yes. I’m watching Seth and Ruby so Jake and Mel could have an adult night out.

8:37 p.m.

Kat: That delicious pie delivery was the nicest thing anyone’s ever done for me.

Well, it’s definitely her, and it’s truly sad that’s the nicest thing anyone has done for her. She

deserves to be treated like that all the time. What kind of guys has she dated? Oh yeah, according to Jake, they’re all dicks.

Nick: It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a costume party. Not sure what I’m in for.

Kat: It’s a blast. You’ll have fun. You probably met a bunch of the guys at the club when you came.

Nick: You going to tell me what you’ll be wearing, so I know how to find you?

Kat: Nope. Would spoil the fun.

Nick: I could think of another way to have fun.
