"Why not. It would be like...I don't know. Cleopatra or something."
"Where in the history books does it say Cleopatra had more than one boyfriend? Or even had multiple kings by her side?"
"I don't know, but I'm sure she had like ten men in her bed or something," I brushed off, not wanting to be proved wrong.
Aaron was way smarter in history than me. He was totally intrigued, especially with anything magic-related. I'm sure he'd beg my mom to listen to the prophecy story every damn day if he could.
"Uh-huh." Aaron looked unconvinced.
"I'd be fine with dating more than one guy, but they would have to commit only to me," I suggested.
"And name someone who'd be fine with such an agreement?" he inquired with an archedeyebrow. My cheeks began to burn and I turned on my Switch. "I don't know," I mumbled. "Maybe someone who loves Disgaea as much as me."
"Good luck with finding anyone who plays the same games as us." He chuckled in response.
I smiled but didn't push the conversation further. I didn't want to be caught revealing my crush for him, but I did feel a tad disappointed that he didn't catch on to what I was attempting to say.
"Let's get some battles going. I want to reach level 599 before dinner."
"No homework?" Aaron asked.
"Nah. Today was history." I groaned. "If I have to listen to the same story again this week, I'll die."
"You can just tune it out." Aaron smirked. "I bet it’s still intriguing though. A girl and her five men who devoted themselves to her in the past. It fits your ideal vision of loyalty."
"Just because I'm fine with dating multiple men IF the opportunity arose, doesn't mean it'll happen. Besides, maybe I already have someone I'm interested in."
I returned to looking at my game screen, but I felt Aaron's gaze on me. "And who is he?"
"What?" I asked, my eyes still on the screen.
"Your crush?" he questioned.
"Who knows. He could be a part of the prophecy." I giggled. "C'mon. Let's get some levels down before you gotta focus on homework."
"Alright," he replied. "But if I kick your butt, you have to tell me who your crush is," he declared.
I lifted my eyes to meet his, noticing the glint of competition in them, along with his cocky smirk. "You know better to challenge me, the Queen of Disgaea." I spent hours late at night training all my characters. I was confident I'd beat him with ease.
"I've been training too, you know. Today could be that day I finally kill your team."
I laughed, sitting up straighter as I arched an eyebrow back at him. "You and I both know my competitive butt won't back down."
"I'm aware, but my curiosity is getting the better of me," he argued.
"Alright then. If you win, I tell you who my crush is. But if you lose..." I pondered what would be a good punishment.
"I'll have to kiss you," Aaron announced. I needed a few seconds to comprehend his words, masking my expression to give off an amused look when I was actually surprised by his statement.
"Oh, a kiss. Interesting." I nodded my head. "Sure. It's on, Aaron. Don't cry when you have to taste these delightful lips."
"I won't have to. I'll beat you and you'll have to tell me exactly who you like."
"In your dreams, Aaron Maynard. It's on," I declared.
