It took me a few minutes to explain the job to my boss who wasn’t happy that I would be gone for so long but didn’t want to lose me as an employee. A side benefit about being the best of all the girls. Though, I didn’t want to push my luck. I still needed this job. My grandma’s social security could only cover so much.

I stepped out of the club’s back door and searched for my new employers.

“Ready?” Jax asked, leaning against a black Rolls Royce, a cigarette in one hand. His eyes skimmed over the clothes I’d changed into and for some reason I felt more naked in my sweat pants and hoodie than I had in my work clothes.

Tugging my bag over my shoulder, I nodded. “Yeah.”

“Get in.” Flicking his cigarette, Jax didn’t wait for me as he ducked into the car.

When I reached for the backdoor handle, the door opened for me, revealing Duke in the backseat waiting for me with a wide grin.

“Hey Angel, I’ve got a seat saved for you,” he patted the leather seat next to him.

Unable to resist grinning back at him, I slid into the car and sat my bag in my lap. “So…where are we going to do this?”

“Back at my place,” Cooper explained from the front seat. “We don’t want anyone to see you before you change forms.”

I bobbed my head. “Gotcha.”

We sat in the car silent except for the smooth jazz playing on the radio. I stared out the window, contemplating how this was going to go. Either this would go well and I would get a big pay out after they find their sister, hopefully close to the full moon so I can get all the money. Or this is going to all blow up in our faces just like it did with Durands.

I didn’t know why I kept getting dragged into these supernatural affairs. I just wanted to do my job and keep my grandma alive long enough to maybe see me make something of myself. I’d hate for her to remember me as nothing more than a sex worker…not that’d let her know what I did for a living, as far as she knew I was working on my nursing degree. Something I had planned on doing but dropped out of once she got sick.

“Hey…” Duke nudged me with his elbow. “You okay?”

I dropped my hand, realizing I was chewing on my nails again and gave him my best sultry smile. “I’m fabulous, sugar. How are you?”

Duke frowned at me. “Doesn’t that get tiring?”

“What, baby?” I shifted closer to him, looping my arm through his larger one. “Wow, you must work out a lot.” I gushed feeling up his arm like it was the sexiest thing in the world.

“Actually, we weres are naturally inclined to be larger than the average male even without spending time in the gym,” Duke explained with enthusiasm completely forgetting about what he’d been asking me.

Jax caught my gaze in the rearview mirror and arched a brow. I narrowed my eyes at him and turned back to Duke.

“So all that running tends to keep the body pretty fit. I can eat a whole pizza on my own and still have room for more.” Duke pulled his shirt up to show me his eight pack abs. “See, not a single ounce of fat.”

He wasn’t kidding. Out of all the men I’d had to pretend to be into this was hardly a trial at all. In fact, Duke and his brothers were all in better shape than any of the men that came to the club. It made a part of me kind of sad that we weren’t going to be having sex.

Cooper sniffed the air up front and then said over his shoulder. “I hope your magic does a better job than you do of hiding your scent because we cannot have you smelling like that around us as our sister.”

I frowned at Cooper’s words, not understanding for a moment and then my eyes widened. “Hold on a moment…you can tell when I’m…” I fumbled over the word.

“Turned on?” Duke winked at me with a boyish grin. “Yep.”

I released Duke’s arm and crossed my legs, lifting my chin high. “You have nothing to worry about. I am a professional and when the time comes no one will be able to tell any difference between me and your sister.”

“I hope you are true to your word because not just our lives depend on it,” Cooper reminded me from the front seat.

Jesus H. Christ this guy was intense.

We arrived at Cooper’s place a few minutes later. It was a nice place. One of those condominiums that had their own underground parking garage with a code and everything. I tried to keep my mouth shut so I didn’t seem like quite the drooling mess.

We climbed out of the car and walked over to the elevator. Cooper inserted a key into the elevator before pushing the top level. The penthouse. I guess they really didn’t have an issue spending the money.

Stepping out of the elevator a moment later, I couldn’t keep my jaw from dropping to the ground. How did they fit such high ceilings in an apartment? The walls were so white I worried that I would smudge them just by being near them. It definitely made my dinky little studio apartment seem like a trash can in comparison.

When I’d met the weres I’d expected a bunch of meat heads. Not refined gentlemen with so much art on their walls that it could feed a third world country for a year. What the hell was I getting myself into?
