“I don’t need your pity.” I pulled away from Cooper's touch. Unfortunately, I had nowhere else to go. I was literally backed into a corner with the wolves about to descend on me.
“We don’t offer pity,” Duke said, taking his place by Cooper's side. “We’re offering you a shoulder to cry on.”
“Companionship,” Jax surprisingly added.
“Maybe even to fuck around with.” Cooper's lips ticked up at the side. “If you’ll have us.”
I stared at all three of them for a moment unsure about their offer. How could this be real? All three of them were serious. No guy has wanted me for anything other than what they could pay for at the club. I didn’t know how to respond.
“Why?”
Cooper frowned. “Why what?”
“Why would you want to be with me? It’s only been like a week. You can’t tell me you’re all in love with me already?” I laughed at the absurdity of it.
Cooper shrugged a shoulder. “Perhaps not, but if you can put up with me and my two brothers then I think I can safely say we are willing to try.”
Duke, of course, bobbed his head enthusiastically and surprisingly even Jax grunted his agreement.
“You paid for her care, didn’t you?” I accused with narrowed eyes. “Is there even a Blessed Rose Grant? Or is that something you made up too?”
Cooper smiled. “No. There is. We just…”
“Made sure your grandmother won it,” Jax finished with a smirk.
My lips twisted to the side in a frown. “I don’t know how to tell you this, honey, but I’m pretty sure that’s illegal.”
“We’re werewolves,” Duke claimed, clasping his hands behind his head. “Why do we care?”
I blew out an exasperated breath. “Fine. What now? You found your sister. I’m of no further use to you. So why do all of this?”
“So suspicious,” Jax snorted. “Can’t we just do a nice thing.”
I shot him a sharp look. “No. You can't. You don’t expect me to quit my job now? Cause I’m not going to uproot my livelihood for a maybe happily ever after.”
“Of course not. Just consider it…” Cooper trailed off and then brushed my hair behind my ear. “A bonus. For a job well done.”
This time it was my turn to scoff. “I barely did anything. You found her before the week was even up.”
“Yeah, but knowing our sister we are going to need your help again. Real soon,” Duke gave me a cheeky grin. “In fact, I think I might be in need of you now.” He reached for me as the others growled.
I laughed and batted his hands away. “Hold on. Hold on. There’s enough of me to go around. Someone needs a lesson in sharing.”
“I’m game!” Duke shot his hand up in the air.
Jax rolled his eyes at his brother and grunted, “Of course you are.”
“Hey, I’m the only one who didn’t have sex with her,” Duke pointed out with a pout. “I think it’s fair to say it’s my turn.”
“Oh so we are keeping score are we?” Cooper asked with a bemused look on his face. “Then I would be ahead of all of you.”
“What? How?” Jax demanded, stepping into his older brother's space.
I sighed and threw my hands up, walking back into my grandma’s room while they argued over who got to fuck me next.
Freaking Men.
