We all get up and order food from different vendors. We meet back at the table and eat lunch. The girls have given me some things to think about. I need to watch my back. I know if I told Daddy what was going on with Ford he would fire his dad’s firm, but we need all the help we can get. Me attending Riverside U is costly for my parents. Now with all the environmental renovations that have to be done on the farm, plus paying penalties for the damages to the water systems, things are more than tight.
After we finish eating lunch, Charlie brings up Thursday’s hockey game.
“Are you all coming?” she asks. “It isn’t often the guys play in town.”
“I’ll be there,” Ruby says.
“Cade asked me to come watch,” I add.
“It’s going to be so much fun attending a game with my girls. Do you all have jerseys?” Charlie asks.
“Nope,” Ruby says.
“Me either,” I reply. “Cade said he’d take care of the ticket.”
“Finn got me a jersey with his number on it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mack and Cade get you both jerseys. The guys like their women to show up in them,” Charlie explains. She is also working with the team, so she knows the ins and outs.
“I won’t be getting a jersey considering Cade and I are temporary,” I note.
“I better run to class,” Briar says, and she hugs each of us.
We all say our goodbyes and run off to class. I think of a time when the ruse between Cade and I will be over, and it doesn’t seem right that he won’t be in my life. I like talking to him and spending time with him. I love all the orgasms he delivers. I pushthe thought out of my mind. I don’t need to overthink this. When it’s time to move on we will. Simple as that.
CHAPTER NINETEEN
Cade
It’s game night. The game doesn’t start until seven. I text Annie.
Me:Can we meet up?
I have about three hours to get to the arena. I have plenty of time to give her the present I just bought.
Annie:Is something going on? I thought I’d see you at the game tonight.
She’s been busy all week with the start of the new semester. I was busy too so we didn’t connect. I’m missing her.
Me:I have something to give you.
Annie:I thought the tickets were electronic.
Me:They are. I have something else
Annie:I’m not on campus. I’m home
Why does it feel like she is avoiding me? My guess is she is just as freaked out as I am by how good our make-out session was.
Me:I can come over if that’s okay.
Annie:Sure
I leave the campus store after buying Annie my jersey. This is the first time I am buying a girl my jersey. Scarlett wore my jersey to games, but she bought it for herself. Annie is special. I have the need to claim her. Having my jersey covering her sexy body is going to be a real privilege.
I get in the car and head over to her house. I text I’m here before going to the door because I don’t want to deal with her roommates.
Annie:Door is unlocked. Come in
I enter the house. The delicious smell of a home-cooked meal wafts through the air. I ate a light lunch and my stomach grumbles.
