He parks, but before he can get out of his truck, I’m at his door. Holding it closed so he can’t get out, I force him to wind down his window.

“This is as far as you go, Boy Scout. The Skull will take it from here.”

“Fuck that.” It’s the first time I’ve heard him cuss. Didn’t know he had it in him. “I’m helping.”

“I wouldnotrecommend fucking with me right now. I’m in a very dangerous mood. This is official club business, and I can’t have you getting in the way and fucking shit up.”

From off in the distance, I hear the whirl of a police siren as it gets closer to the clubhouse. Slowly, I look at him and try my hardest not to pull him through the window of his truck and bash his fucking head in.

“Did you call the fucking cops?”

He swallows, and I already know my answer.

“Tell me,” I pause, “you didn’t fucking call Turner.”

“What was I supposed to do? They’re the police. They can help.”

I bow my head and pinch the bridge of my nose.

“You stupid motherfucker.”

I hear footsteps approaching from behind, and I turn to see Stone and Cap. They can hear the siren, too, and they’re not happy.

“What the fuck is going on?” Stone asks.

“It’s Sasha. Death’s Road has her, and I’m fucking getting her back.” I jerk my thumb over my shoulder at the Boy Scout as I pass by Stone and Cap. “This dumbass called Turner. I don’t know how you want to handle that, but count me out. I have a girl to save.”

I stomp in the direction of the clubhouse so I can suit up. I have two sidearms and a rifle in my room, and I plan on emptying every last fucking magazine into their fucking bodies.

“Wait a second, how do you know they took her?” Stone speaks up.

I stop and close my eyes. Taking a deep breath, I turn around and answer him.

“I went to her house. There were signs of a struggle. Her brother, who buys his heroin from them by the way, has been missing for over a week. I’ve got a bad feeling, Stone.”

I watch as Stone takes a deep breath. I’m preparing to argue with him when he tries to forbid me to go after her, so I’m surprised when that’s not at all how he responds.

“You,” he nods to the Boy Scout. I think he’s about to tear him a new one, so am shocked again when he continues. “You know how to fire a gun?”

“I’ve got almost twenty years of military experience under my belt,” he answers.

“Good, cause we’re going to need all the help we can get. Since you got Turner involved in this, now you’re involved. I hope you care enough about this girl that you’d risk dying for her.”

“Yes, sir.” His eyes shift back to mine briefly. He’s nervous about how I’m going to react to his answer. “I do.”

This may be the first time I’ve ever looked at him and not wanted to beat his face in.

“Take him inside with you. I’ll deal with Turner.”

I blow out an annoyed breath and roll my eyes.

“Let’s go, Boy Scout.”

I have no idea what’s going on, but for Stone to be so agreeable to thisandask an outsider for help… He must be aware of some big shit that he hasn’t told us yet. He better get in here fast, because I’m already fucking antsy about where she is and…

Fuck.

I can’t even think about what they’ve done to her.
